Our Graduate Career Programme is made up ofTHREE 12-month placements. Each placement willsee you working across different business units,potentially in a variety of regions across NewZealand.

APPLYING IS EASY!THERE ARE FOUR STEPS...

1. ONLINE APPLICATIONVisit the careers section of the Silver Fern Farms website andcomplete your application online. You’ll need to attach your up todate CV containing your university transcript, and a cover letter.We’ll also ask you to complete at short presentation so we can get abetter understanding of your knowledge and interest of the industry.

2. ONLINE ASSESSEMENTAfter we’ve assessed your application we will let you know if it hasbeen successful to progress to the next stage. If successful we willsend you a link to complete an online assessment. This will includea general cognitive test with numerical, verbal and abstractreasoning. Also an assessment of your working style. This will takearound 30minutes and needs to be completed within 5 days of beingreceived.

3. VIRTUAL INTERVIEWWe’ll get in touch with you to set up a video conference styleinterview. This will be with a member of our People team, andpotentially someone else from the business function we think youcould best fit into for your first placement.

4. SILVER FERN FARMS CONNECT:After successfully completing steps 1-3 you may be invited to ouroffices to meet your future manager and other graduate applicants.This is where you will see inside Silver Fern Farms and meet someof your potential colleagues.

Graduate Programme Position Description

ROLE PURPOSEDependent on experience, aspirations and business needs, the Graduate role will support key business projects and processes in an agreed area of the business. There will be TWOgraduates recruited each year. The intention of the programme is to be 3 x one year placements rotating through different areas of the business, however this will remainnegotiable and somewhat flexible depending on demonstrated skills, performance reviews and business needs as the Programme progresses.As well as performing the agreed functional role, a purpose of the Graduate is to act as an ambassador for Silver Fern Farms in the Tertiary and Secondary education segments. Theperson in this role will be drawn on to help with promotion of Silver Fern Farms and the NZ Agricultural industry as a rewarding place to create a career.

KEY RELATIONSHIPSGraduates will have contact with many people inside thebusiness, including but not limited to:

INTERNAL:• Managers and Colleagues within any of the Operations, Food

Quality/Environmental/Assurance, Supply Chain includingLivestock procurement, Sales and Marketing, Finance groups.

• Direct line Manager• Members of cross-functional project teams as required.• Other graduates• HR team and Mentor• Executive Team members

EXTERNAL:• Customers• Suppliers• Farmer suppliers• Agency partners

KEY RESPONSIBILITES:Specific role responsibilities will be dependent on final role placement. This will be discussed and agreed uponplacement. Some important responsibilities while working in any Division include:

1. Be customer focused and global thinking.2. Support company direction and contribute positively to company culture.3. Learning and Development - Be pro-active in your own learning. Take opportunities as they arise. Askquestions and seek clarification as needed.4. Reporting;- Prepare and present reports relating to key projects ensuring information is accurate and reports are timely.- Identify and propose opportunities for business development/improvement connected to strategy and areaof responsibility. Recommendations should include costs/benefits and implementation requirements.5. Projects;- As required, complete assigned projects within timeframes and costs.- Actively contribute to project teams in positive, constructive manner. Be brave to submit ideas and be heard.6. Health, Safety and Wellbeing:- Responsible and accountable for Health and Safety in your area of business- Demonstrate a strong personal commitment and focus on all Silver Fern Farms health and safety initiatives,including training, and safety conversations- Ensure adherence to all company and legislative health and safety policies, practices and procedures.
