Game Two of the 2010 baseball World Series between the San Francisco Giants and the Texas Rangers found several hundred boats packed around McCovey Cove outside AT&T Park, including a 2008 Marlin 300 owned by the Dave Gallegioni family. “It wasfun! We watched the game on the big screen at the park and via our TV on

board,” writes Gallegioni. “We are San Francisco natives and diehard Giants fans. We were also there for the cham-pionship games against the Phillies.” The 300 is an upgrade from the fami-ly’s 1992 Grady Explorer 24 they had owned for 18 years.

Dave Gallegioni and crew could count on a good time off the ballpark, but the chance encounter experienced by David Bradman and his buddy, Eduardo Herrera, off Miami, Florida, aboard a 2003 Bimini 306, was a bit of

serendipity. A boat full of Sport Fishing magazine staff members came along just as Herrera was raising a nice sailfish caught on light tackle and 15-pound test line. A photographer on board captured the moment before the bill-fish was released.

The Lake Erie Grady-White Owners Club literally blew off the fishing for their September 25 perch tournament because of gale force winds and small craft advisories. As hard as that was for the hard-core fishing group (Mike Manion reports, “It was like telling a bunch of race horses in the starting gate to go back to the barn.”) the turn-out was fantastic for the afternoon fes-tivities and the prize purse became part of the random captain’s drawing. Shameful begging was witnessed as the captains determined the crew distribu-tions. The raffle prizes included a

Several members of the TARPON COAST GRADY-WHITE CLUB, sponsored by Ingman Marine of Port Charlotte, FL, tested their seaman-ship skills by enrolling in a Coast Guard captain’s license course. Cannons Marina, Longboat Key, FL, celebrated 55 years in business in October 2010. past tournament record of 14 lb., 3 oz. for the special cash bonus. Participants still had a grand time! Among the suc-cessful were, at first place, Larry Post of Bellevue, with a 10-lb., 12 oz. fish caught at the west side of Possession Bar; second place David Panteleeff of Seattle, 9-lb., 14 oz.; and Tom Regney of Snohomish, 8-lb., 8-oz., third. Kid’s division honors went to Rebecca Skomessa of Bothell, 9-lb., 6-oz.

MarineMax of Gulf Shores, AL, held its First Annual Owners’ Tournament October 22-23. Seven Grady-Whites competed in a fleet of 20 boats. Overall winners were Captain Jeff Smith and crew including Michelle Schoultz, Shannon Bosarge, Chuck Dixon and John Watters, fishing a 2005 Marlin 300, The Godfather. Dr. Bill Brooks on an Express 305 brought in the limit of very large red snapper, including the largest of the tournament. Jimmy and Carolyn Chapman, owners of Advance 257, Swell Ride, were also recognized for bringing in their limit of snapper.

Outdoor World Ltd., St. Johns, Antigua, sponsored the Third Annual Francis Nunes Jr. Memorial Fishing Tournament and Seafood Festival September 25. The day definitely was one for the youth as three of the major prizes went to 16-year-old Danielle Mazely for largest wahoo, best female angler and best youth with her catch of a 57.25-lb fish. Fellow crew member Stephen Shoul brought in a 19.25-lb. wahoo for

youngest angler honors, and so Team Yamaha aboard a Canyon 306 came away with four of eight trophies. The weigh-in and prize giving were live-streamed on antiguabarbudasportfishing.com. Dealer representative Benjamin Smith summed up, “There is no doubt we lived up to our motto, ‘Enjoy the fishing, enjoy the lime.’”This tournament celebrates the over 40-year contribution Francis Nunes made to Antigua and Barbuda sportfishing.

Taylor Marine Center hosted over 80 in September for their annual fishing seminar in Milford, DE. The morning session featured Harry Aiken, a tour-nament winner for decades and a for-mer long distance casting champion, who shared techniques and even a few locations for inshore fishing opportu-nities. Captain Josh Farr out of Ocean City, MD, led the afternoon with dis-cussions about hard-charging deep sea applications for tuna, marlin, dolphin and shark. Josh’s boat won recognition for the most fish boated in a recent White Marlin Open, and he discussed trolling techniques and rigging.

There was a fine group fishing the Youth Division in the 20th Annual Grady-White Fishing Tournament held by PORT OF EYGPT MARINE, Southold, NY, this past summer. POE celebrates 50 years in business.

Sixteen-year-old Danielle Mazely won largest wahoo, best female and best youth categories for her 57.25-lb. fish caught during the Third Annual Francis Nunes Tournament in Antigua, fishing on OUTDOOR WORLD’s Canyon 306.

Every August CATAUMET BOATS AND OUTERMOST HARBOR MARINE throw a cus-tomer appreciation party in Chatham, MA. Live music, a cookout, face painting and raffle prizes were some of the highlights enjoyed this past year by the 300 Outermost Harbor/Cataumet Boats guests.

Safe PlatformDear Anchorline:What an adventure the first journey on our Adventure 208 turned out to be! The boat started up right away and we were off from Havre de Grace at 4:45 P.M. The sun was still out so we were very comfort-able in our full enclosure, making 20 knots down the Chesapeake Bay towards open water. Our speed reduced to 12-15 knots as the seas were at three feet. (I then considered the remark I’d made to my son, Eric, regarding the helm windshield wiper, “Why did they put one in?”) We both were feeling really good about the stability of our new boat. When we approached off of Baltimore Harbor, we knew had purchased a really sturdy, seaworthy vessel. Waves were now three to five feet, and the winds at 30 knots. (The windshield wiper came in very handy.) Our total transit was 42 nautical miles and we made it in less than three hours. What a ride! Our new 208 more than met our expectations–they were exceeded. I would not ordinarily take out a vessel in such conditions but I am glad to know that the boat is a very safe platform. She is resting comfortably at her new home on Spa Creek, Annapolis.
