ARTICLES A means one A boy
An means one for the words that sounds like a, e, i, o, u
e.g an apple ,an elephant ,an ice cream, an orange, an umbrella
ARTICLE The- if used for one, means a specific thing
or person e. g: A boy is under the tree. The boy is crying. ( talking about the same boy)
The can also be used for plural The animals are tame.

HOW CONSTRUCT SENTENCES? A sentence contains a Subject and main
Verb.( and object) S + V + O OR S + V + complement
Ali (subject) cries (verb) The cow (subject) is grazing.(verb)
Some examples of complete sentences 1. Most birds fly. 2. Children love cartoons. 3. Flowers are lovely. 4. Roses have thorns on their stems 5. Plants need sunlight to grow.
Examples of commands 1. Sit! 2. Speak slowly. 3. Cut the cake now. 4. Be quiet! 5. Do not cross this line.
Examples of questions 1. Do you like English? 2. Does she speak Spanish? 3. Are you sick? 4. Is she coming? 5. Have you done your work? 6. Has she gone?

Exercise 1 We spent a spectacular weekend at the
beach recently. We arrived at lunch-time on Friday and
checked into our two-roomed chalet, surrounded by colourful beds of daisies and
pertunias.
