___________ Her Cry Lyrics
Hootie & The Blowfish
She sits alone by a lamppost
Trying to find a thought that's escaped her mind
She says “Dad’s the one I love the most
But Stipe1s not far behind”
She never ___________ me in
Only tell me where she's been
When she's had too much to drink
I say that I don't care I just run my hands
Through her dark hair and then I pray to god
You gotta help me fly away
CHORUS
And just...
___________ her cry...if the tears fall down like rain
___________ her sing...if it eases all her pain
___________ her go... ___________ her walk right out on me
And if the sun comes up tomorrow
___________ her be.
(solo)
This morning I woke up alone
Found a note by the phone
Saying “Maybe, maybe I'll be back someday”
I wanted to look for you
You walked in I didn't know just what I should do
So I sat back down and had a beer and felt sorry for myself.
CHORUS
Last night I tried to leave
Cried so much I just
Could not believe
She was the same girl I
Fell in love with long ago
She went in the back to
Get high
I sat down on my couch
And cried
Yelling, “Oh, mama, please, help me!
Won’t you hold my hand.
CHORUS (2x)

RELATIVE PRONOUNS AND CLAUSES
Directions: Check if the information given in parentheses is accurate (OK) or not (X).
Cathy: Have you seen the new science teacher?
Leroy: No, I haven’t. Is he over there with Miss Kate?
Cathy: Yeah. He is the guy who is wearing a pink T-shirt (A. This is a nondefining
clause), near Sarah. Leroy: He seems intelligent, but I hope he is not very strict.
Cathy: He is too young to be strict. Isn’t he cute?
Leroy: Come on, Cathy! Jennifer, who is only 13 (B. The relative pronoun who could be
substituted for that in this clause), is the rudest person at this school. So, this is not
about age.
Cathy: I still think it is. All my neighbors are great, except the guy who lives in the gray
house (C. This is a defining relative clause). He is sixty years old.
Leroy: That’s a mistake. My father, who is very young (D. This is not a relative clause),
is a strict guy while my mother, that is 60 years old (E. The use of the relative
pronoun that in this sentence is wrong.), is really easygoing.
Cathy: OK. You convinced me. What do you think of inviting him to go to the art
museum that recently opened on Dover Street? (F. This is a nondefining relative
clause) Leroy: Are you crazy? He is our teacher, the guy who is responsible for our education (G.
If the clause had that instead of who it would be correct too). He is not like the
friends that go out with us. (H. Here, the relative pronoun refers to friends. That’s
why the verb agrees with the third person plural)
Cathy: I don’t want to talk to you anymore. You’re like Edward, who judges me all the
time (I. This is a defining relative clause). I just want to establish new friendships
that may make me happier (J. It would be wrong to change that for who in this
clause)!
