In today’s session we are going to be learning about Parenthesis!

This means the use of brackets, dashes or commas to add extra information into a sentence. We have

looked at this briefly over year 4 with regards to brackets and commas however this is a good revision!

(this was a request from someone in class 7! Great choice!!)

Re-write the following sentences so that they begin with the adverbial. Use only the same

words and remember to punctuate your answer correctly.

Jenny could see again after her surgery.

The boys cheered when they won the football match.

Miss Majer was very proud when all the children handed in their homework.

Remember: adverbials say when, where or how something happened. Can you use this as

a clue to help you rearrange the sentences.

Contractions are when we have 2 words which we merge together to become one word.

Eg: I will = I’ll

Today we are going to be learning about synonyms.

Synonyms are different words that mean the same/similar things.

For example:

The boy ran.

The boy sprinted.

The boy jogged.

The underlined words are all synonyms for the same thing.

As it is World Blood Donor day on Sunday 14th June 2020, I thought our comprehension could be

based on that.

Also our topic this half term in IPC would have been Inside the Body where we would have learnt

lots about our organs and how our body works.
