a grand season to remember

As we approach our ninth season at the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts in historic downtown Tracy, it is with great pleasure that we announce our 15/16 Presenting Season! This season’s performances are sure to excite our guests.

The season opens with Pete Escovedo, former Carlos Santana band member who toured inter-nationally with the legendary guitarist for five years and performed on three Santana albums and has also performed at the White House. Country Superstar, LeAnn Rimes will help us celebrate the holiday season in December and Dave Mason starts our New Year off in style. This season’s presentations reflect the diversity and interests of our community, while we continue to grow the attendance of regional audiences. We celebrate our very talented local performing arts groups who entertain us with music, plays and dance.

The “Jewel of Downtown Tracy”, as many people refer to the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts, is right in the middle of a unique and authentic downtown, built upon strong community ties. The downtown area combines historic charm with contemporary interest, showcases a pleasing variety of restaurants, shops, services, and entertainment, and serves as the center of local activity for residents, businesses, and visitors. It is the perfect place to grab a bite to eat and stroll through the local shops before or after a performance.

When you take your seat inside the breathtaking Eleni Tsakopoulous-Kounalakis Theatre, you will be mesmerized by the attention to every detail that went into preserving this incredibly beautiful building that has recently hosted some of the biggest names in entertainment to include; Willie Nelson, Drew Carey, Robert Cray Band, Kellie Pickler, Y &T, Kathy Griffin, Peabo Bryson, Joe Nichols, the Swon Brothers and Bobby Caldwell just to name a few!

I encourage you to not wait to join the Grand Family. Experience everything the Grand Theatre Center for the Arts has to offer this season. Before Mötley Crüe, before RATT, even before there was a Metallica, Y&T was slogging away in sweaty rock clubs around America. When the band formed in the early 1970s, little did they know they would set the standard for hard rock bands that trailed. Many of the biggest acts of the ‘80s became popular opening for headliners Y&T—and cut their teeth on the band, as evidenced by the Y&T mentions in tell-all books by acts such as Metallica and Mötley Crüe.

Multi-Event

Choosing the right venue is essential for a memorable and successful event.

It must offer convenience, up-to-date technology, and professional management, at a rate that fits your budget. The Grand Theatre Center for the Arts has all of the above. Plus, there is an intangible “wow” factor that comes with The Grand.

An Interesting Past, A Place For Today

The Grand Theatre opened in 1923 as a vaudeville hall at the center of downtown Tracy. The Grand was in its heyday in 1941 as a local movie theatre and was treated to an Art Deco makeover. The period-sculptured marquee is still in place today. A 20-year visionary, civic-community partnership created the culturally, enrichment-focused Grand Theatre Center for the Arts, which opened in 2007.

The Grand is owned and operated by the City of Tracy and managed by City staff who are experts in event and facility management. This municipal, interdisciplinary arts center is the only one of its kind in California offering professional and community fine arts programming through arts education, exhibition and performances. All performance and classroom spaces are available for rent at very reasonable rates.
