Celebrating our 2018 SERVE Award WinnersThe Operations Team celebrated this year’s Grand Casino Hinckley S.E.R.V.E. Award winners with a day at CHS field cheering on the St. Paul Saints. These leaders have demonstrated that their leadership focus is to S.E.R.V.E. (support, engage, re-invest, value and empower) our Associates. They are seen here with fellow fan and co-owner of the St. Paul Saints, Mike Veeck, who happens to be a past MLCV and NLDC Leadership Conference speaker and co-founder/co-owner of Fun is Good company.

SERVICE RECOGNITION
GuestNet Shout - Outs
Blackjack:I was playing Ultimate Texas Holdem. Maria, the dealer, was great. She was friendly, knew the game, and had patience for my friends. She was outstanding.
Front Desk: Mae is always great!
Front Desk: Vallarie and Jenny and John were all awesome!
Front Desk:
We dealt with Jamie when we checked in. She was so pleasant to deal with. She was having problems with her computer and Leah was there to help her. Both of them were so nice and so very accommodating to us. This is the first time we checked in and were so happy to deal with nice and pleasant staff.
Front Desk:We always look forward to the possibility of Vallerie checking us in to our hotel room for the week. She has always been exceptionally helpful and kind to us over the years. She is greatly appreciated by us.
Silver Sevens:
Scott and Krystal are the best. You have extremely entertaining bar staff there that make me forget the fact that I never win any money in your casino. However Scott and Krystal are the best over all. They always greet us with a smile and big “hello.” I wish we lived closer.
Slots:Patrick, the slot tech, was nice. He helped us when our slot machine went black; he came and restarted it. I was very happy to see some of my old favorites such as Goldfish and Miss Kitty!!
Spa:
I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Gran Harmony Spa! Every penny spent in that establishment is a penny well spent! Sheila took good care of me in the locker room area, Monica gave me a terrific facial, and Todd is one of the best massage therapists I’ve experienced, and I visit spas around the world! Thanks Grand Harmony Spa!!!
Stories Diner: Crystal is so friendly and knowledgeable. She remembers us each time we come in. Great personality.
Stories Diner: Crystal is the greatest waitress! Very attentive and friendly service.
Enjoying my evening at Grand Casino. The best part though is our Server, Linda B. She is fantastic! She’s sweet, fun to talk to and extremely attentive. I hope she is here the next time I come back! -Guest

LEARNING AND DEVELOPMENTMountain Climbers
When you think about mountain climbing, maybe your stomach does a little flip-flop. But, you know, people who are successful in life are really a lot like mountain climbers. They don’t start out climbing Mount Everest. Instead they train and practice on smaller slopes until they build the skills and confidence to move on to bigger challenges. When they choose a goal, they map out a plan and, as much as possible, they follow it. They equip themselves as well as they possibly can and they learn from the competition. They fully expect to run into problems, so when they do, it doesn’t throw them. They deal with them as best they can and move on. Mountain climbers and high achievers keep their fear and negative thinking under control because they know that these things will defeat them more certainly than any avalanche or sudden storm. They also understand the importance of persistence and tenacity. And finally, every now and then, they bite off a little more than they are absolutely certain they can chew. Like the saying goes, “When there’s no place to go but up, you go up.”
Now, you may not want to conquer Everest, but is there a mountain in your life just calling out to be climbed? Is there a mountain in your organization that is just begging to be conquered? If you are like most folks, there is. And you know, it’s a pretty safe bet that you can do it - once you set your mind to it.
