• Describe unique mix designs: Exposed Slab on Grade / Exposed Metal Deck mix design used Shrinkage Reducing Admix to meet the shrinkage requirements for said applications.

• Describe unique specifications/requirements (flatness, color, etc.): Exposed Slab on Grade / Exposed Metal Deck were required to meet 0.04% shrinkage and a 0.42 w/cm ratio. Andersen poured approx. 1300 yards of this Exposed Slab on Grade / Exposed Metal Deck mix design.

• Describe placement challenges or unique techniques: Shotcrete placement of numerous shear walls and collector beams throughout the main building and auditorium. Concrete construction work completed in existing building that were built 70+ year ago. The unforeseen conditions once demo was completed accounted for over 2,500 RFI's due to non-typical solutions needed throughout the building.

• Describe placement challenges or unique techniques: Numerous pours with over 150' of line pump on multiple stories, continuous restrictions to access for pump placements, laser screed placement with many MEP stub ups, monolithic curbs and multiple slab recessions.

This LEED Silver 300,000 SF renovation & expansion of the historic Grant High School campus completely modernizes the school.

The entire interior is upgraded with state-of-the-art high school classrooms, along with a seismic & façade renovation and an extension of the floor plate while preserving the historic building.

Unforeseen conditions after completion of demo connecting the main building and auditorium required the removal of existing columns that were no longer structurally stable.

Three feature stairs are spread throughout the main building and are utilized for additional learning and collaboration space.

Shoring tower was needed until new columns were poured to support the existing roof structure prior to the main

building and auditorium being linked.

Two identical shear walls at the main building and auditorium link were completed using shotcrete.

Sixteen concrete columns at the exterior were completed for a new bike structure and generator enclosure. Solar panels were then added on the roof.

The existing auditorium stage was extended during the renovation of the ceiling.
