OCLC/ALISE Library & Information Science Research Grant Program (LISRGP)

2015 Call for Proposals

• OCLC Online Computer Library Center, Incorporated and OCLC Research, in collaboration with the Association for Library and Information Science Education (ALISE), announce the Library and Information Science Research Grant Program (LISRGP) for 2015 and invite research proposals.

Program description• In recognition of the importance of research to the advancement of librarianship and information science, OCLC and

ALISE promote independent research that helps integrate new technologies that offer innovative approaches and contributes to a better understanding of the information environment and user expectations and behaviors.

• Research related (but not limited) to the following areas is encouraged:• Impact of digital technology on libraries, museums, and archives• Social media, learning, and information-seeking behavior• New developments in knowledge organization (metadata, social tagging, linked data, etc.)

Application deadline• Applications must be submitted by 23:59:59 your local time on 15 September 2014. Receipt will be acknowledged. Late

applications will be disqualified. Grant recipients will be notified prior to the ALISE 2015 Annual Conference, 27-30 January, 2015, in Chicago, Illinois and announced at the Conference. Previous recipients and final papers are available at: www.oclc.org/research/grants/awarded.htm.

TWAS-COMSTECH Joint Research Grants

• Under this scheme grants are awarded to promising high-level research projects in earth sciences, engineering sciences, information technology and computer sciences, materials science including nanotechnology, pharmaceutical sciences and renewable energy carried out by young individual scientists in OIC countries.

• TWAS-COMSTECH Joint Research Grants are intended for young scientists in countries belonging to the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) to enable them to purchase the research facilities they need to enhance their productivity. The programme aims at encouraging the pursuit of scientific excellence in OIC countries by identifying and supporting the best young scientists there; reinforcing and promoting scientific research and strengthening the endogenous capacity in science and technology; and counteracting the brain drain and reducing the exodus of scientific talent from the OIC countries.

TWAS Research Grants Programme in Basic Sciences (Individuals)

• Under this scheme, grants are awarded to promising high-level research projects in biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics carried out by individual scientists in one of the 81 S&T-lagging countries identified by TWAS.

• The TWAS Research Grants Programme in Basic Sciences was established in response to the needs of researchers in developing countries, particularly those attached to institutions that lack appropriate research facilities. Under this scheme, grants can be awarded for research projects in biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics either to individual young researchers, or to research units in the 81 science-and-technology-lagging countries (S&TLC) identified by TWAS, to enable them to purchase the research facilities they need to enhance their productivity.

• Qualified researchers in one or more of the 81 S&T-lagging countries identified by TWAS are invited to form a research consortium with one or two collaborating groups to work on a common problem in basic sciences.

• The TWAS Research Grants Programme in Basic Sciences was established in response to the needs of researchers in developing countries, particularly those attached to institutions that lack appropriate research facilities. Under this scheme, grants can be awarded for research projects in biology, chemistry, mathematics and physics either to individual young researchers or to research units in the 81 science-and-technology-lagging countries (S&TLC) identified by TWAS, to enable them to purchase the research facilities they need to enhance their productivity.
