The Grapevine APRIL, 2020 Cove Spring Church ~ 5705 Walnut Grove Road ~ Troy, Ohio ~937-214-4416 ~ Pastor Greg Morrow 1 For the LORD is good, and His loving devotion endures forever; His faithfulness continues to all generations. -Psalm 100:5I In this month's text God's Word speaks to the moment in history we are living. It teaches us look back at previous generations to see how God was faithful to His people in the past because how he was faithful to his people in the past is how he will be faithful to his people in the present. The first thing I want to encourage all of us to do is to read the Bible as the record of God's faithfulness to the people of God. In other words the Bible is our family history. The Bible is the story of how God has been faithful not to "those people back then" but to us as the people of God. When you read the Bible in this light and then look at the news you can have confidence in your heart. Your heart is assured that just as God got the people of God through troubling times in the past so he will us in our time. When our generation comes to an end our generation will be another witness to generations yet to be born of the faithfulness of God. The second thing I want to encourage all of us to do is be led by Holy Spirit. In every generation Holy Spirit has led his people. When you read the Old Testament prophets you will see there were moments when cultural experts predicted national calamity and yet Holy Spirit told his prophets that peace and prosperity were around the corner. The opposite happened as well. In the New Testament Holy Spirit warned his people during a relatively stable economic time that famine was on the horizon. God's people were able to prepare not only to survive the famine but reach out in compassion during it. The lesson for us is that it is vital in whatever moment in history we find ourselves in to be led by Holy Spirit. Only He knows what is to come. The third thing I want to encourage us to do is look to the resurrection of Jesus. This is Easter season! The resurrection of Jesus is God's promise to renew the earth. Just as God remade the broken body of Jesus so God is going to remake our world in a decisive moment in the future. As the people of God we can look beyond troubling times in our present moment to the renewed world God has promised us. Faithfully, Pastor Greg Morrow

For the LORD is good, and His loving devotion endures forever;

His faithfulness continues to all generations. -Psalm 100:5I

In this month's text God's Word speaks to the moment in history we are living. It teaches us look

back at previous generations to see how God was faithful to His people in the past because how

he was faithful to his people in the past is how he will be faithful to his people in the present.

The first thing I want to encourage all of us to do is to read the Bible as the record of God's

faithfulness to the people of God. In other words the Bible is our family history. The Bible is the

story of how God has been faithful not to "those people back then" but to us as the people of God.

When you read the Bible in this light and then look at the news you can have confidence in your

heart. Your heart is assured that just as God got the people of God through troubling times in the

past so he will us in our time. When our generation comes to an end our generation will be

another witness to generations yet to be born of the faithfulness of God.

The second thing I want to encourage all of us to do is be led by Holy Spirit. In every generation

Holy Spirit has led his people. When you read the Old Testament prophets you will see there were

moments when cultural experts predicted national calamity and yet Holy Spirit told his prophets

that peace and prosperity were around the corner. The opposite happened as well. In the New

Testament Holy Spirit warned his people during a relatively stable economic time that famine was

on the horizon. God's people were able to prepare not only to survive the famine but reach out in

compassion during it. The lesson for us is that it is vital in whatever moment in history we find

ourselves in to be led by Holy Spirit. Only He knows what is to come.

The third thing I want to encourage us to do is look to the resurrection of Jesus. This is Easter

season! The resurrection of Jesus is God's promise to renew the earth. Just as God remade the

broken body of Jesus so God is going to remake our world in a decisive moment in the future. As

the people of God we can look beyond troubling times in our present moment to the renewed

world God has promised us.

Faithfully,

Pastor Greg Morrow

Cove Spring is still here.

We have all heard the saying, “When life gives you lemons…”.We are all living daily with the developments and impacts of the Coronavirus illness in our country. Because we are deeply concerned with the safety and health of our members and visitors, we want to act responsibly by following the guidelines of our President and State Governor.

Therefore, we are going to make full use of the opportunities provided to us through the most gracious hard work from Laura Sutherly with our beautiful NEW website through which the Pastor’s weekly sermons will be available uninterrupted; Live-streaming through Facebook at 9:30am Sunday mornings; The newsletters will still come to you through the website, email, and US mail.

We have a group of dedicated volunteer members who are making themselves available to pick up groceries, medicines, or help in other ways necessary. If you are a senior or at high risk and can’t get out, please call Pastor Greg at 937-214-4416 and he will put you in touch with one of our volunteers.
