1) Do you think the product is typical of film trailers? If so in what ways is it similar?

The results I received from the audience all described similar aspects.

From what results I have collected I can conclude mine and my group's video trailer was of typical standard. We used many shots that established a location and the main protagonist. A typical of teaser trailers, the sequence was of adequate length, between 60 to 90 seconds long. A comment from the audience backed up the idea that our teaser trailer is typical as it gives us information and viewing pleasure through the use of quick shots, jump cuts and fast paced editing but just leaves out enough to raise enigmas. This leaves the audience wondering just who the 'Lone Wolfe' really is. A comment was left about the beginning of the film where we included a Paramount logo, commented as being a good touch.

“yes, it had the brand clip of paramount which gave it a feel of similarity. Also the quick shots, which are often shown in a film trailer” “it introduced the

protagonist, got a feel of what the film is going to be”

“Yes it establishes the character and location”

“You want to know who he is, he looks mysterious and it leaves enigmas”

100%

2) Does anything make it different or does it stand out from the typical? How?

Feedback on this question told our group that the snow added to the fantasy element. We were told that this was quite creative as well as the use of the dance studio for our martial arts scene, giving the video a different atmosphere. However criticism was also given. We were told that we did not need all the special effects although the shine on the sword was effective. Some people were indifferent, believing that it did not vary from a typical trailer. The shot of the main protagonist was commented on as being different, giving something new and interesting to the audience. However the audience has its limits. One comment added a biased opinion to the feedback. This person did not have much to say because fantasy was not their type of genre and they had not watched many fantasy films. It was also commented that it was different as we did not included a voice over which it typically used in teaser trailers.

“Not really except for the fact that it did not need all the special effects as it looked quite effective with just simple ones”

“Not really. However Fantasy is not my type of film”

“Not really. Just a typical teaser trailer”

“Yes, there was no voice over talking which there usually is in a film trailer”

“When he is sliding down the snow in fast pace that was really good”

“Longer than a typical teaser trailer”

3)Does it work? Why?

Feedback on this question told my group that our filming techniques and shots made our trailer effective. Many people noted that it made them want to keep watching and that the soundtrack was very powerful. The use of shots also created enigmas, typical of a teaser trailer. We have been told that we followed the conventions, the elements that people come to expect from the fantasy genre.

Page 7: Graph

Why?

“Yes as it builds enigmas”

“Yes the Mise en scene was perfect (especially the snow) the costume and the music”

“It does because it is replaced with good music which works well with the theme and parallels the genre”

“Makes you want to watch the film”

“...The ninja was wearing trainers”

4) Name two interesting elements from the video.

Elements commented on consisted of the following:

•Soundtrack creating a good atmosphere. •performance of protagonist. •Shine effect on sword martial arts skills•Snowy scenes

5)Could this product be stronger?

As of typical teaser trailers, a date for release usually comes at the end of the video. We did not have this so it produced criticism. Some people believed we should have had a martial arts fight instead of just a training scene. A comment suggested we should have a wider variation of locations for our shots.

“The trainers thing...”

How so?

“It could have more martial arts people, maybe fighting each other”

“It could have a release date on it” “Too long”

“Maybe more locations?”

6)Do you think the pace of the video is typical of this kind of product?

When my comments came back, feedback told us that the pace was very good, also saying that the music pace fit very well with the action. There were one or two comments that suggested to us that we could have made the pace a little faster.

Page 13: Graph

“Yes although the pace could have been a little faster”

“Teaser trailers are quick and to the point which is exactly what Lone Wolfe was like”

•The brand image made it clear as to what the genre of the film was. From my research it was concluded that my brand image gave off the strong impression of a fantasy film which is the chosen genre we were aiming for.

•Magazine and posters are typical of major products. This is shown through the colour scheme and layout. as with typical products, our magazine/poster projects stand out, the bold writing and colours attracting the viewers attention and cultivates interest.

•Comments suggested that the poster is different as it is set in black and white, the grey colour scheme giving it a air of mystery.

•Both products attract attention. through the mysterious element, enigmas are raised, capturing the interest of the reader as they want to find out more about the product and protagonist of our film.

•Elements of interest are the use of the red eye imprinted onto a persons face. This was achieved on Photoshop on the Apple Mac computers.

•As of the layout, the feedback is generally satisfied, bar the occasional comment such as ideas to increase the size of the information layout on the magazine or give the poster more colour.

I believe that our products and video project were quite successful, however even the best creations have glitches and flaws

Could have taken more care with costume. Trainers were all too visible and it got much criticism

There was a possibility that more martial artists would have improved the performance quality.

Brand image was clear. Viewers could make a clear link from our brand image to our video, The Lone Wolfe image linking well to the fantasy genre
