• Structured, simple-to-read, graphic display.

• Categorized and put in order for ideas and concepts.

• Present concepts in a clearer and more systematic manner.

A. FLOWCHART

Definition:

• Used to show the movement or sequence in time of events or steps in a process.

• Show the sequence of events in a story.

• Cause-Effect Relationship.

• Illustrates a solution model to a given problem.

Purpose:

• Provide people with a common language or reference point when dealing with a project or process.

B. ISHIKAWA or FISH DIAGRAM

Definition:

• Another way of showing cause and effect relationships.

• Used to structure a brainstorming session.

• Sorts ideas into useful categories.

Purpose:

• To identify possible causes for a problem.

C. SUNGRAM

Definition:

• Shows a central concept with other concepts emanating from it like the rays from the sun.

• Involves multiple traits, facts or attributes associated with a single topic.

Purpose:

• To discuss the traits, characteristics, or facts in a given topic.

D. PYRAMID

Definition:

• Shows a hierarchy of concepts:

• Apex/Top – broadest and the most basic on which the succeeding level is built

• Base – narrowest, built on the preceding level.

• Used to initiate discussions among students.

Purpose:

• Helps students to identify the main idea and supporting details.

E. GRID

Definition:

• Used to compare items on a number of points.

• Tabular representation or diagram.

F. BAR GRAPH

Definition:

• Shows comparison of ideas or variables of a certain topic.

• Limited to one point of comparison, it shows at one glance the difference between a number of items on that particular point.

Purpose:

• Compare sets of data.

G. TREE DIAGRAM

Definition:

• Focuses on sequencing and the grid highlights comparison and contrast.

• Shows classification–the relationship between a general or superordinate concept.

Purpose:

• To show a general to specific relationship of a certain topic.

H. PIE CHART

Definition:

• “Circle Graph”

• Involves showing divisions with a group.

• Useful for displaying information about the percentages or parts of a whole.

Purpose:

• To show relative sizes of data.
