Computer Based Test – Structure

• Timing: About 3 hours and 45 minutes

• There are six sections with a 10-minute break following the third section

1. Analytical Writing (One Section)

2. Verbal Reasoning (Two Sections)

3. Quantitative Reasoning (Two Sections)

4. Unscored

5. Research

Section Details

• Analytical Writing: One section with two separately timed tasks• Task 1: Analyze an Issue• Task 2: Analyze an Argument

• Verbal Reasoning: Two sections, 20 Questions per section

• Quantitative Reasoning: Two sections, 20 Questions per section

• Unscored: An unidentified unscored section that does not count toward your score may beincluded and may appear in any order after the Analytical Writing section. Questions in theunscored section are being tried out either for possible use in future tests or to ensure that scoreson new editions of the test are comparable to scores from earlier editions.

• Research: An identified research section that does not count toward your score may be includedin place of the unscored section. The research section will always appear at the end of the test.Questions in this section are included for ETS research purposes.

Exam Features

• The Analytical Section will always be first

• The verbal reasoning, quantitative reasoning and unidentified/unscored sections may appear in any order

• You can move freely forward and backward throughout an entire section

• You can preview and review within a section

• You can change/edit answers within a section

• There will be an on-screen calculator for the Quantitative Reasoning section

• You can ‘Tag’ questions, so you can skip them and return later if you have time remaining in the section

Exam Features

• The Analytical Section will always be first

• Other sections may appear in any order

• When taking a Verbal Reasoning or Quantitative Reasoning section, you are free, within that section, to skip questions and come back to them later or change the answer to a question

• You will be provided an ETS calculator to use during the Quantitative Reasoning section; you may not use your own calculator

• Answers are entered into the test book, rather than a separate answer sheet

• Computer Based Tests• Credit/Debit Card (American Express®, Discover®, JCB®, MasterCard® or VISA®)

Any debit/credit card branded with one of the five accepted credit card logos can be processed. Note: AmericanExpress, Discover, JCB and MasterCard are NOT accepted for testing in Nigeria; only VISA and PayPal areaccepted.

• Money Order/Certified Check/Voucher• If testing in Mainland China, refer to the instructions in your NEEA account for payment methods.• ETS reserves the right to add or delete payment options at its own discretion and without notice.

• Paper Based Tests• Credit/Debit card(American Express®, Discover®, JCB®, MasterCard® or VISA®)

Other Forms of Payment

• Payments may also be made by check. Make payable to ETS-GRE. If paying by check, please comply with the following: • Bank name and its address should be preprinted on the face of the check.

• Check must have a preprinted check number.

• Check must include candidate or payee name and address.

• Check date CANNOT be over 90 days old.

• New bank account starter checks missing the preprinted name and address are not acceptable.

• Payments that are not made in U.S. dollars must be made in the following accepted currencies at the Telegraphic Transfer Selling (TTS) exchange rate of the U.S. dollar equivalent. • British pound

• Euro

• Japanese yen

Payment Policies

• Fees are stated in U.S. dollars.

• Do not send cash.

• A check in U.S. dollars must be drawn on a bank in the United States or Canada. Checks payable in anothercurrency must be drawn on banks in the same country as the currency. By sending your check, you areauthorizing ETS, at its discretion, to use the information on your check to make a one-time electronic debit fromyour account for the amount of your check; no additional amount will be added. If you do not have sufficientfunds in your account, an additional service fee of US$20 will be debited electronically from your account.Contact ETS to learn about other payment options if you prefer not to have your check used in this way.

• If you do not have sufficient credit or funds in your account to cover a registration or service we have processedon your behalf, your scores will be withheld and an additional service fee of US$20 will be added to youraccount.

• If you do not include the correct fee, your request for registration or service will be returned.

• Taxes must be included where applicable.

• There are no refunds for additional services.

• Refunds will be made in U.S. dollars.

• Services may be withheld for nonpayment of fees.

• All test fee payments must be made in full, have the correct numeric and written dollar amount, and bereceived at the regional registration center (RRC) or ETS within 90 days of the date on the payment (e.g., check,money order).

• All outstanding balances incurred from prior ETS tests and/or services must be paid in full in order to register forany future ETS test or service.

• ETS reserves the right to add or remove online payment methods at its own discretion and without notice.

Refund Policies

• If you cancel your registration no later than four days before your test date, you will automaticallyreceive a refund equivalent to half of the test fee. For example, the deadline to cancel a Saturdayappointment at a testing location in the United States is Tuesday. The remainder of your payment willbe retained to cover expenses for processing your registration and holding space at the test center.

• Refunds will be in U.S. dollars.

• Cash refunds are not available.

• Refunds will not be given if you do not follow proper registration procedures and/or fail to present therequired identification documents at the test center.

• If you are taking the test in Korea, see the specific refund policy for test takers in Korea

• Payments by Credit/Debit Card• A refund will be processed* and credited back to the original credit/debit card or bank account.

• Payments by E-Check and PayPal®• A refund will be processed* and credited back to the original PayPal® or bank account.

• Payments by Check• If original payment was drawn on a U.S. domestic bank, allow eight weeks after your cancellation for your

refund to be processed.• If original payment was made in non-U.S. funds drawn on a bank outside the United States, allow 12 weeks for

your refund to be processed.

• Test Takers in Mainland China

• For test takers in Mainland China, you will need to reschedule or cancel your test registration no laterthan 10 days before your test date. Follow the instructions on the NEEA website for requesting a partialrefund and additional payment policies.

* Refunds for paper-based tests are processed after the score reporting date
