Thank you Marina the December newsletter looked great. Good news the final payment from the Create NSW grant has finally come through and $4951.30 has been direct deposited into our bank account. Well done Bettina !! The garden Working Bee was cancelled due to the hot weather and no water – we will hold another one in the cooler weather. Thank you to those who volunteered. The Christmas Fair, organised by Constance Bond, went well. The Behind the Door and Under the Bed exhibition looked fantastic. We sold 47 paintings and 1 sculpture, in spite of being open only on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. This would obviously be a good time of year to be open 7 days a week. To do this, we would need more members to volunteer. I believe it would have been a better event because we have not held such a big art sale like this in Forster before. Behind the Door... sold 48 artworks gross $3804 Members Exhibition sold 14 artworks gross $2670 Mountains to the Sea sold 4 artworks gross $1660 Your Space sold 6 artworks gross $895 The Christmas Hamper was won by our member, Dawn Day – congratulations. Current raffle is the quilt kindly donated by Gaby Toner. This will be drawn at the Member Update on Mon 3 February. Christmas greetings were sent individually to our Patron, John Chadban and our Sponsors along with a copy of our December newsletter. 2020 will be another busy year. Our Open Exhibition is already being organised by our Co-ordinator Bettina. We need extra help with this – please contact Bettina if you are able to do so. The exhibition will be open 7 days a week for 2 weeks. With the Member’s Exhibition to follow later in the year, let’s make these exhibitions an all-hands-on-deck exercise. Lastly a reminder: the Member Update is Monday 3 February – see you there. This may be of interest to some of our artists who would like to further their education in art.A Fine Arts Course is being offered in TAFE TuncurryThe course is 12 months, 2.5 days per week. The TAFE has an art studio and a print making studio, really good facilities. (Some of our members have done art courses there and have thoroughly enjoyed them)The website states the course commences on 3 February but it will be delayed by at least several weeks, until they get the numbers. There is a fee for the course of $10K but this can be managed by applying for a TAFE VET loan which needs to be repaid only when earning over about 54K per year. The course may also meet the obligations of those receiving Centrelink Newstart benefits. Here is the link: https://www.tafensw.edu.au/course/-/c/c/CUA51115-01/Diploma-of-Visual-Arts?latlong=-32.161286,152.494397&radius=1&locationName=2428

Raffle to be drawn at the Members’ update 3 February 2020

Happy New Year fellow artist, I wish you a year when all your brush strokes

turn to masterpieces. Thank you for your input into the last roster, a special thank you to those who worked the

desk and didn’t have a painting hanging.Thank you all members who have contacted

me regarding the next rosters - your co-operation is appreciated.

There are still vacancies in our general roster and still plenty of members who have not

responded to my previous email. If you intend to hang during this period you need to let me

know, one way or the other, if I don’t hear from you shortly I will guesstimate whose names to use to fill in the blanks. Remember, you alone are responsible for finding a replacement if the

dates and times allocated don’t suit you.The Open Exhibition is set for Sunday April

5 to Sunday April 26 when the gallery will be open seven days per week. Please indicate

by return email if you plan to exhibit, days and times you can attend the front desk. These times are in addition to the general roster. Please supply me with two dates/times but

hopefully there will be enough participants to spread the work load.

As you are aware, if you plan to exhibit, plan to be the artist in residence.

I look forward to hearing from you soon, either by email at [email protected] or

sms me on 0421 922 848. Jenny Ross, Artist in Residence Co-ordinator
