Umbilicals are key components for offshore upstream production in the petroleum and natural gas industry, providing remote monitoring, control as well electrical power supply to the subsea production and processing systems installedat seafloor. LS is ready to supply umbilicals to remotely operated vehicles (ROV) for offshore operations. ROV are usually linked to the survey or installation vessel by a tethered dynamic umbilical carrying electrical power, control, video and data signals, which are structurally protected by a high mechanical strength,torque balanced and compact design.

Medium voltage power umbilicalPower umbilicals are widely used in offshore oil and gas for electrical power transmission fromthe host facility to seafloor systems comprising subsea separation, boosting, and gascompression equipments.

Medium voltage AC power umbilical is suitable for most of current distances from thehost facility to the subsea equipments as well the required electrical power and frequencylevels of the subsea equipments. Another application for power umbilicals is for electrical power distribution between platforms.

Optical unit is an option where subsea optical monitoring or communication system is available.

Thermoplastic control umbilicalLS Cable & System already developed a dynamic ultra-deep water electro-hydraulic thermoplastic control umbilical which is an essential piece of subsea systems for offshore oil and gas upstream pro-duction, being a representative cost-effective solution for the umbilical market worldwide.

The umbilical is mainly composed by electrical control cables for LV signal transmission and two types of thermoplastic hoses for providing hydraulic control and chemical injection from offshore host platforms to subsea structures such as Wet X-mas trees and Manifolds.The hydraulic lines carry fluids that remotely control the subsea structure valves, while the chemical injection lines deliver chemicals into the subsea oil and gas wells to counteract scaling, wax, hydrate formation, and contamination of the oil or gas.

The umbilical was developed to fully comply with strict technical specifications of Petrobras, the major Brazilian oil and gas company, having the giant Brazilian offshore oil field ofCampos Basin as its challenging scenario of ultra-deep water application.
