Economic Recovery of Greece2014 SHOWS THE FIRST ECONOMIC GROWTH IN GREECE AFTER 6 YEARS OF CRISIS
Greece fell into recession after the collapse of U.S. investment bank Lehman Brothers in 2008, which sparked a euro-wide debt crisis the following year.
However, Greece is on the way to economic recovery as investor faith returns to the recession-ridden Eurozone nation. A drastic drop in government borrowing costs since the outbreak of the crisis in 2009 marks a great improvement and a great perception of the country by foreign investors. This was evidenced in the sale of Greek bonds in April 2014, which was eight times oversubscribed. According to the Greek government, demand for €3 billions’ worth of five-year bonds demonstrates that the country’s debt is sustainable.
Greece is expected to see economic growth of around 0.6% in 2014, the first positive economic growth after 6 years of crisis.

WHICH FAMILY MEMBERS CAN BE INCLUDED IN EACH APPLICATION?
WILL MY RESIDENCE PERMIT BE RENEWED AT THE END OF 5 YEARS?
WHAT IF MY PROPERTY DROPS IN VALUE DURING THE TIME OF RENEWAL?
Your Residence Permit will still be renewed even though your property drops in value at the end of 5 years. The only requirement is for you to acquire a property that is worth at least €250,000 during the time of application.
AM I SUBJECT TO TAXATION IN GREECE FOR MY INCOME EARNED OUTSIDE OF GREECE?
No, your income earned outside of Greece is not subject to taxation in Greece after you become a Residence Permit holder. Having said that, we do encourage you to speak to your own tax advisor for any specific tax questions.
DO I HAVE TO GO TO GREECE TO PURCHASE THE PROPERTY?
No, you do not need to go to Greece to purchase the property. When it comes to signing documents for the purchase, all you have to do is provide Power of Attorney to your appointed Greek lawyer so that he/she can execute the documents for you. However, the Power of Attorney has to be witnessed by the Greek Embassy in your home country. ImmiDream can assist with provision of the Power of Attorney and engaging a lawyer.
DO I HAVE TO GO TO GREECE TO APPLY FOR THE RESIDENCE PERMIT?
No, you do not need to go to Greece to submit your application form. You can do it at the Greek embassy in your home country. However, the main applicant does need to enter Greece once to collect the Residence Permit when it has been approved. Only the main applicant needs to go to Greece and he/she can collect the permits on behalf of the whole family.
HAS THERE BEEN ANY SUCCESSFUL APPLICATIONS TO DATE FOR THE GREECE RESIDENCE PERMIT PROGRAM?
Yes, the program has successfully approved many applications since the program commenced in 2013.
AM I ABLE TO CONVERT MY RESIDENCE PERMIT TO A GREEK PASSPORT IN THE FUTURE?

WHY SHOULD I DO IT NOW?
Firstly, Greek property prices are currently at a historical low. We foresee that this Residence Permit will receive strong demand from Chinese and Russian investors, hence driving up the prices of Greek properties in the near future. We recommend that now is a good time to invest before Greek property prices increase.
Secondly, we do not know how long this immigration program will be in place before it gets abolished (the Canadian government has recently abolished its immigration program). The Greek government may do the same after they overcome the economic crisis. Hence, it is best to apply for the Resident permit while it is still active.
The aforementioned residence permit may be renewed for the same duration (five years), if the property remains unchanged in its legal ownership status as described above and the contracts of ownership remain in effect, and other statutory conditions detailed above are met.
b. You submit an application for a Greek Passport before the age of 18Once you purchase a property worth a minimum of €250,000, you may submit an application for your family which includes spouse and the direct descendants of the spouse, who are under the age of 21. During their stay, children are entitled to a residence permit for real estate owners up until the age of 21. Children who become adults during the period when the residence permit is valid can be granted a separate residence permit.
