In 2005 the Corporation staff and board determined that because of significant changes in the external environment and continued funding pressures, a new strategic plan should be developed. As a result of the strategic planning process the organization adopted new mission and vision statements and created a four-year action plan to ad-dress the key strategic issues identified during the process. Mission:

The Green County Development Corporation’s mission is to provide leadership in securing the economic health and success of Green County communities and businesses.

Vision: Leading the way by…

• building strong collaborative relationships with business, community and regional partners;

• identifying systems that address barriers to economic development; • developing resources and infrastructure for recruiting, retaining and growing

businesses; • raising awareness and understanding of economic development goals and

initiatives; and …making Green County the LOCATION OF CHOICE!

Green County Development Corporation Key Roles, Responsibilities & Actions 1. Business Retention & Expansion

GCDC will ensure the expansion and retention of existing industries through a program designed to take advantage of a comprehensive local network of re-sources as well as direct consultative skill of GCDC staff.

Projects Include: Business Retention Survey, CEO Breakfast, HR Roundtable, Industry Database, and Agri-Business Committee.

2. Community Services

Recognizing that each community is unique and has its own economic develop-ment needs, GCDC will provide the appropriate tools and staffing necessary to address economic development in each member community.

Projects Include: Professional Economic Developer consultations, LOIS Data Base maintenance, county web site, and quarterly County economic development seminars.

3. Emerging Business Development

Create a welcoming environment for entrepreneurs and emerging businesses so that those who are interested in developing a business have the tools and re-sources available to do so. GCDC actively participates in regional initiatives that support and encourage emerging business development.

Projects Include: Business Start-up facilitation, Financing Workshop, and Entre-preneur & Inventors Club.

4. Special Projects/Green County Leaders/Green County Revolving Loan Fund

Invest in community projects, programs and studies that support GCDC’s goals.

Projects Include: Administrative support for Green County Leaders program and Green County Revolving Loan Fund, and Evaluate Telecommunications of county.

5. Organizational Sustainability

Ensure that GCDC has the resources available to be a premier public/private partnership that provides sustained leadership in Economic Development for the region that delivers exceptional results.

Projects Include: Annual Report, Annual Business Awards, Quarterly Newsletter, Identification of alternative funding sources.

6. Business Attraction

In 2007, GCDC will develop an aggressive industry recruitment strategy targeting small and medium growth clusters in Green County and SW Wisconsin. This strategy will be a relationship-based campaign and may be conducted in partner-ship with the SW Wisconsin Economic Development Coalition, the Regional Eco-nomic Development Entity, Forward WI or other appropriate entities.

Projects Include: Web site and public relations program.
