South Shore Clean Cities manages the Northern Indiana Green Fleet

program for our local Metropolitan Planning Organization (MPO),

Northwest Indiana Regional Planning Commission (NIRPC). The goal of

the program is to significantly improve the environmental performance of

business and government vehicle fleets across the region (Lake, Porter,

and LaPorte) through diesel retrofits and other strategies.

GREEN FLEET PROGRAM

WHAT MAKES A FLEET GREEN?

THE INITIAL FLEETS IN THE PROGRAM

1. Gather Data. Fleets are asked to share information about

their vehicles and equipment, internal policies and

incentives, fuel usage, and future vehicle acquisitions. (please fill out form at your seat)

2. Fleet Analysis. SSCC will initiate a conference call to gain

greater insight into the fleet’s needs, daily operations,

geography, etc.

3. Recommendations and Ratings. SSCC analyzes the data

collected and a meeting is set up to discuss

recommendations and the Green Fleet rating structure.

FLEETS IN THE PROGRAM WILL GO THROUGH A 3 STEP PROCESS

BENEFITS OF BEING A GREEN FLEETReduce Carbon Footprint

Learn how to reduce harmful emissions, increase energy

security, and contribute towards a growing economy in Indiana.

Meet Internal Economic Goals

Learn how to reduce dependence on petroleum-based fuels

and ways to use alternative fuels and technologies.

Green Fleet Branding

SSCC will be doing promotion and outreach to let people know

what being designated as a Green Fleet means. It's an

opportunity for your organization to show efforts towards being

"green" and contributing to a green supply chain.

ALTERNATIVE FUEL OPTIONS

Through Clean Cities University (CCU), we provide online learning

courses covering alternative fuels and advanced vehicle deployment,

laws and regulations, and administrative subjects.
