The bond will finance a collection of investments that follow our green ethos that includes biomass fuelled power plants, production of biomass fuels and other clean energy generation projects. The mill will be entirely energy self-sufficient as it will generate clean energy from the timber waste produced as a by-product of processing the timber products that we currently sell to the USA and Europe. Our aim is to deliver power not only for our mill, but also to the local community as they will be able to benefit from any surplus power that we generate. This energy will be fed into the local electricity grid and any payments we receive for this power will be given back to the local community. The mill project is in the early stages of negotiations. We will keep you informed of developments as the project progresses in future newsletters.

Green IS to launch a Clean Green BondAs we move into 2015 we get ready to enter the regulated investment

market place with a £150 million regulated bond

Green IS is preparing for the launch of a £150 million Clean Green Bond for on-going investment in forestry, green energy projects and Biomass. This will be the first product that we offer to the regulated market and is in response to on-going demand from our corporate clients.

The bond will finance a collection of investments that follow our green ethos that includes biomass fuelled power plants, production of biomass fuels and other clean energy generation projects.

In addition, the bond will help us to launch our new mill project, as we intend to have a mill that is available to process timber for our clients to help them to maximise their returns.

Exit StrategyMaximising the return on your

standing teak investment

Green IS now supplying teak decking to Germany, France and the USA. This is an addition to our product portfolio where we mill our harvested timber to make teak decking and flooring planks. This gives us a very clear exit strategy for our trees that starts at purchase and flows through harvesting into milling, to providing a finished product.

Our buyers include one of the largest decking and timber flooring importers in Germany and we are also looking to expand into Asia, where we have already trialled a batch of teak planks being machined and finished in China into solid, engineered flooring.

Green Forestry BondAnother innovative fixed return product

Our £5 million Green Forestry Bond is proving very successful with many new clients taking advantage of this innovative three year bond that pays a 10% annual coupon and returns your full investment at the end of three years. The trees that act as security for the Green Forestry Bond are on our ‘Marmoset’

plantation which has 35,000 trees that are 15 years old – making them an ideal choice for this product as they will reach optimum value in three years time when they are 18 years old.

Green IS to build our own FSC NURSERY

Taking control of the FSC Chain of Custody for our timber

With a Green IS Nursery we can start right at the beginning of the process by germinating and planting seedlings and then cultivating them into saplings that will be planted on our plantations to replace our harvested trees. The nursery project will be built alongside the ‘Marmoset’ plantation and will be laid out over a 5 acre bespoke site. This offers a long-term investment over 18 years that will deliver excellent investment growth from the harvested trees.

The Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) is an international, not-for-profit, Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO). FSC provides an internationally recognised forest certification scheme that aims to promote proper forestry management and the use of a chain of custody for timber, in brief, an international ‘passport’ for the product’s origins. Using this method of certification and accountability they hope to eliminate uncontrolled deforestation and the trade in illegally logged timber. FSC certification is a good thing for Green IS and all of our investors, whether they are corporate or private clients, as this accreditation will maximise the potential distribution channels and demand for our products. The FSC certification scheme is third party and independent.

Demand outstripping supply!More and more customers are buying into the security of forestry investment

Green IS is actively seeking out and buying new teak plantations in Brazil as our ‘Jaguar’ and ‘Toco Toucan’ plantations are now sold out.

The next plantations in our growing portfolio for standing teak are ‘Puma’, which has 3,000 trees, and ‘Marmoset’, which has 35,000 trees. Our team are covering thousands of miles each week looking at plantations in Rondônia that offer the right potential for our business and our investors.

In particular, they are looking for plantations that have been well maintained and have trees that are approaching 15 years in age. In addition, the plantation must offer the potential for replanting with teak saplings so that we have a sustainable and rotational crop for the future.

Spring CleanProtecting your investment

We have been working very hard on the maintenance of all our plantations to maximise investor returns. Our team oversee the regular pruning of the lower branches of the trees and clearing fallen leaves from the ground below. This helps to refresh the nutrients in the soil and increases the potential growth of the trees.

In some cases the plantation managers prefer to use the controlled burn method to clear the ground, this also puts many nutrients directly back into the soil and in some cases there is no need to add any fertilisers when using this method.

Meet the Green IS Team

Adeilson MoreiraBrazilian Teak Plantation Manager

Adeilson has worked in forestry in Rondônia, Brazil since leaving school. For the last 10 years this has been in the fields of cartography and topography where he has gained excellent experience of land measurement and mapping having worked with many of the leading plantation and forestry teams in the region.

Prior to this Adeilson worked on the harvesting and milling side of forestry and therefore has good knowledge of identifying trees of the right size to maximise client returns.

Adeilson will visit our plantations on a monthly basis to check on forestry management and maintenance. He will also be responsible for mapping the exact locations of all plots for client and GIS records.
