Statement of Legislative Intent

2013 Adopted Budget included a Statement of Legislative Intent (SLI) prioritizing the following projects in the 2013-2014 Biennium:

• Ballard neighborhood greenway

• Delridge neighborhood greenway

• Downtown cycle track development

• West Seattle lower bridge trail access

• Design work on the following additional neighborhood greenways:

o Rainier Valley

o Central District

o Lake City

o University District

What are Neighborhood Greenways?

• Family friendly routes

• Neighborhood networks that link community destinations such as parks, schools, libraries, and shopping areas

• Provide connections to regional trails such as the Burke-Gilman Trail

• Facilities that are parallel to higher volume arterials that allow bicyclists to make connections between neighborhoods on lower speed, lower volume streets

• Low speeds (< 25 mph)

• Low volumes (< 1,000 vehicles per day)

• Gradual Inclines

• Destinations

Delridge Neighborhood Greenway

Delridge Neighborhood Greenway Project Elements Include: • Raised crosswalk at SW Andover St • New corners with curbs on the south side of SW Brandon St • ADA ramps, speed humps, crosswalks and crossbikes • Radar speed feedback and 20mph signs on SW Genesee •Sidewalk and pavement repair • Wayfinding signs and markings • 20 mph speed limit along the greenway; stop signs for intersecting non-arterial streets
