Garnock achieve Positive Coaching Scotland(PCS) AccreditationGarnock became the 26th club to achievePositive Coaching Scotland (PCS)accreditation, as they look to continue buildingtheir strong youth section in all facets fromsocial inclusion to individual playerdevelopment.The club highlighted the need for a change in anumber of practices, starting with the need toincrease the amount of coaches at the club – afigure in which they have successfully doubled– and the requirement to engage more indeveloping the coaching volunteers, to, in-turn,progress individual players at the club.Garnock PCS leader Peter Dominy said:“The Positive Coaching Scotland process hashad an unbelievable positive influence on thegrowth of our club which goes far beyondcoaching. Positive Coaching Scotland has madeus consider who we are, what we are trying toachieve and whether we are going about ourdevelopment in the right way.“We now have a drive to extend the sense ofownership, from each individual, towards theclub.
“The result, we hope, will be more youngpeople playing rugby to a higher standard anddeveloping a life-long love for our game – agame which we believe can bring a positiveinfluence on the next generation.”The club has re-affirmed their core valueswhich centre around respect, inclusion and abelief that nothing of value is gained withouteffort.Lead manager for Positive Coaching Scotlandat sportscotland, Beth Macleod, said: “It wasfantastic to have been at Garnock to see themachieve their PCS accreditation and to viewfirst hand how they have taken the positivecoaching ethos and placed it at the heart oftheir club.“The programme is designed to get everyoneinvolved in clubs, like Garnock, who arecreating a positive environment for youngpeople participating in sport.”Garnock join Currie, Strathendrick, Melrose,Irvine, Dundee Wasps, Alloa, Berwick,Bishopton, Cartha Queen’s Park, Caithness,Dunfermline, Duns, Ellon, Forrester, Hamilton,Highland, Hillfoots, Langholm, Lasswade,Lochaber, Mull, North Berwick, Peebles, Perthand Stew-Mel Lions by earning PCSaccreditation.

PRESIDENT’S PRESIDENT’S WELCOMEWELCOME
On behalf of Garnock Rugby Club, I am pleased to welcome you to Lochshore fortoday’s game.
After the success of gaining promotion to RBS West Division One last year we nowhave the reality of consolidating Garnock Rugby Club in this division. We intent tobuild on last years experience and use that as a platform to improve.
This season we have appointed Jared Reekie as the club coach. Jared will besupported by Barry Fitzgerald. We have also welcomed back a number of players whowere playing at other clubs last season and a number of long term injuries.
We are continuing to grow our junior section with the Garnock Rugby ClubDevelopment Officer, Gavin Blackburn, making a significant impact in getting rugbyembedded in the Garnock Valley schools. This year Gavin will also have 2 ModernApprentices working with him. Garnock Rugby Club is of the view that investing in thedevelopment of our local kids is the best way of succeeding as a club.
This is happening despite the lack of facilities at Lochshore. The on-going saga of thenew school being built close to Lochshore is still subject to some political wrangling.The intention is that the building willstart in January 2015?? That decisionhas a knock-on regarding the potential forGarnock to acquire a footprint of groundto build facilities at Lochshore.
I would like to take this opportunity tothank all our sponsors and advertiserswithout whose support the funding of theclub would be difficult.
Our sincere thanks also go out to themany people who volunteer and help theclub at every level.
I would ask all spectators to adhere to thecode of conduct. Please enjoy yourselfand cheer on your team. We hope to seeyou back at the Eglinton Inn to discussthe events of the day !!
