Complete a Griffith University chemistry course while studying Year 11 and 12 school chemistry
The Griffith School of Environment will offer Year 11 and 12 students the opportunity to study a Griffith University chemistry course while undertaking Senior Chemistry at your School. Griffith Chem is an excellent opportunity for students to experience a university course whilst completing their senior studies.
Griffith Chem is a two year program taken over your Year 11 and 12.
In the Griffith Chem program in Year 11 you will -
study the content of the first half of Griffith Chem course within the normal delivery of the QSA Chemistry syllabus in your Year 11 Senior Chemistry subject. Two nominated laboratory sessions and write-ups will contribute towards Griffith Chem. All content and laboratory sessions will be undertaken at your School with your teachers
have the option of a day excursion to Griffith University to utilise practical equipment to complete an assessment in a water topic. This will be at the discretion of your School and the University
complete the stage 1 examination for Griffith Chem towards the end of Year 11. This exam will be undertaken at your School
Students who pass both laboratory sessions and achieve 50% or higher on the stage 1 examination will be invited to continue with the Griffith Chem program in Year 12. An administration/laboratory fee of $85 (to be reviewed before 2014) will be payable to Griffith University by students who continue with the Year 12 stage of Griffith Chem course.
In the Griffith Chem course in Year 12 you will -
study the content of the second half of Griffith Chem within the normal delivery of the QSA Chemistry syllabus in your Year 12 Senior Chemistry subject. This will be undertaken at your School with your teachers
attend the Griffith University campus on two days to complete Griffith Chem laboratory sessions and write-ups. Dates and times to be determined with anticipated dates in June/July
complete the end of course examination for Griffith Chem towards the end of Year 12 academic year. This will be undertaken at the University campus
What does participating in Griffith Chem mean to you as the student? If you successfully complete Griffith Chem over the two years by completing the laboratory sessions and the two examinations at an overall Pass or better, you will be awarded a formal Certificate of Completion by Griffith University.
If you then enrol in a Griffith University degree program you will be eligible for credit for your first semester, first year, Griffith University chemistry course, either 1001ENV Chemistry, 1013ENV Chemistry in Biological Systems 1, or 1101BPS Chemistry A providing that course is a core requirement in your degree. (Once enrolled at Griffith you apply for credit based on your Griffith Chem success. The Certificate of Completion will be your documentary evidence to support your credit application).
In addition, if you have done very well in Griffith Chem, by achieving an overall Pass or better for laboratory sessions and achieving a percentage of 65% or better for the end of program examination, and meet the entry admission pre-requisites into a Science or Environment program as nominated by Griffith University, you will be eligible for guaranteed acceptance into your selected program on the proviso that you list that program as your first QTAC preference. You will also be granted specified credit for 1001ENV Chemistry 1013ENV Chemistry in Biological Systems 1 or 1101BPS Chemistry A.
Please be assured that the undertaking of Griffith Chem along with your Senior Chemistry subject will in no way be detrimental to the class results of all students.

GRIFFITH CHEM AGREEMENT BETWEEN: SCHOOL zyz, of school address AND: GRIFFITH UNIVERSITY, a body corporate established pursuant to the Griffith University Act 1998, of Kessels Road, Nathan in the State of
Queensland, through the Science, Environment, Engineering and Technology Group. Parties to the Agreement The Science, Environment, Engineering and Technology Group, Griffith University and All Saints Anglican School being parties to this partnership agree that this Agreement is not a formal legal agreement giving rise to any legal relationship, rights, duties or consequences, but it is only a definite expression and record of the purpose of the partnership to which parties are bound in honour only. Scope of the Agreement This Agreement shall be known as GriffChem. The aim of the agreement is to establish and develop links with SCHOOL XYZ in respect to the delivery of Griffith University 1001EAS Chemistry course to selected Year 11 and 12 students. The following is core to this Agreement – 1) CREDIT Students who, over the two years of engagement, achieve a Pass or better in Griffith Chem whilst studying at School XYZ will receive, upon
application, specified credit for the course 1001ENV Chemistry, 1013ENV Chemistry in Biological Systems 1, or 1101BPS Chemistry A, upon entry to any Griffith University program in which this course is a core requirement.
2) GUARANTEED ACCEPTANCE Students who achieve a pass for laboratory sessions and a percentage of 65% or higher for the end of course examination in Griffith Chem, and who
meet the entry admission pre-requisites into a nominated Science program, will be eligible for guaranteed acceptance into their selected program on the proviso that the selected program is listed as the student’s first QTAC preference. Students will be granted specified credit for 1013ENV Chemistry in Biological Systems 1, or 1101BPS Chemistry A.
OPERATIONAL GUIDELINES The parties regard the following areas to be requirements of the agreement:
SCHOOL XYZ Delivery of course responsibilities
Cover the content of the first half of Griffith Chem program to Year 11 students within their normal delivery of the QSA Chemistry syllabus;
Students will complete the first two laboratory sessions and accompanying write-ups of the Griffith Chem in the school;
Students will sit a Stage 1 examination for Griffith Chem at the end of their Year 11 studies;
Students who pass both the laboratory sessions and achieve 65% or higher on the Stage I examination will, if they so choose, continue with the program in Year 12 of their study. An administration fee of $85 will be payable to Griffith University by those students continuing with the program in Year 12;
Cover the second half of Griffith Chem to continuing Year 12 students within their normal delivery of the QSA Chemistry syllabus;
Year 12 students will attend four laboratory sessions at Griffith University, Gold Coast campus, and complete accompanying write-ups;
Year 12 dtudents will sit the end program examination for Griffith Chem towards the end of Year 12 studies;
Year 12 students who receive a pass on the laboratory sessions and 65% or higher on the end of program exam, and meet entry admission pre-requisites, will receive guaranteed acceptance into one of a list of nominated Science programs offered by the Science, Environment, Engineering and Technology Group.
Administrative responsibilities
Staff nominated by the School must attend professional development sessions held by Griffith University about the administration of the course and use of resources;
The School must administer the course within their School;
The School must run and mark laboratory activities in Year 11;
The School must be willing to share their successful contexts and assessment items with other Schools that may incorporate Griffith Chem into their work programs with the QSA Chemistry syllabus;
The School must be involved in the professional development of additional schools that enter into a Griffith Chem agreement. Griffith University, Gold Coast campus
Promote and administer the Griffith Chem agreement to schools in the Gold Coast region;
Provide a schedule of programs for which Guaranteed Acceptance applies to the Griffth Chem Agreement;
Provide professional development for Griffith Chem teachers at participating schools;
Provide electronic copies of all resources necessary to teach the course;
Be available for consultation with teachers with respect to content concerns;
Provide laboratories, equipment and demonstrators for laboratory sessions to Year 12 participants;
Mark stage 1 examination paper, Year 12 laboratory sessions and end of semester examination paper;
Respond to the need, should it arise, for revision lectures/tutorials for students prior to the end of semester examination;
ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESS 1) Once a year, the Dean, Learning and Teaching, Science, Environment, Engineering and Technology Group, Griffith University (or delegate) and a School
representative make contact to discuss the processes described in this Agreement. 2) This Agreement will be subject to review, by both parties, every two years commencing Term 1, year to be entered here. 3) Long term tracking of students from the School through Griffith University and into the work force may be considered by the parties. 4) This Agreement is not affected by changes of personnel at either institution. PUBLICITY AND PROMOTION The partners of this agreement are approved to seek to achieve the maximum exposure and recognition possible for all of the parties to this agreement. Where possible joint publicity and promotional opportunities should be explored between the parties involved. While giving effect to all written marketing, promotion, sponsorship and media documentation, and policies, and complying with agreements approved and entered into by the partners, each of the parties may also promote their involvement with the event by any form of media or communication channel provided that no party states or implies it is the primary or major host of the Agreement. Each party is to acknowledge appropriately the involvement of all the other parties and should, as a courtesy, request approval by the other parties named on the understanding that this approval should not be unreasonably withheld. All advertising material used by either party must have the prior written approval of the other party in verifying that the layout, copyright and appropriate usage of logos and emblems meet the guidelines and requirements of both institutions. Information Sheet You can complete a Griffith University engineering course while studying Year 11 and 12 The Science, Environment, Engineering and Technology Group of Griffith University offers Year 11 and 12 students the opportunity to study the equivalent of a first year first semester Griffith University engineering course. GRIFFITH ENG is an excellent opportunity for students to experience a university course whilst completing their senior studies. GRIFFITH ENG is a two stage program. Stage one, A Taste of Engineering, is offered to selected Year 11 students who express a genuine interest in pursuing a career in Engineering. Successful students of A Taste of Engineering will be invited to continue with stage two of the program, GRIFFITH ENG, in Year 12 semester 1. To be eligible to commence A Taste of Engineering students are required to be studying Maths B and English and at least one of the following – Maths C, Physics, Chemistry, Technology Studies or Engineering Studies. In Year 11 students will-
attend two on campus Experience Days run by Griffith School of Engineering.

Scope of the Agreement This Agreement shall be known as Griffith ENG. The Griffith ENG program will be delivered in two stages and will be offered on two campuses, Gold Coast and Nathan. The first stage will be referred to as a Taste of Engineering and will be delivered to Year 11 students. Students who complete the Taste of Engineering stage of the Griffith ENG program to a satisfactory standard will be eligible to proceed to stage two of the Griffith ENG program in Year 12. The aim of the agreement is to establish and develop links with in respect to the delivery of Griffith University 1007ENG Engineering Fundamentals course (on Gold Coast campus) and 1001ENG Engineering Practice & Sustainability course (at Nathan campus) to selected Year 11 and 12 students. Interested and eligible students apply by completing the application form, which should be approved and supported by the School;
The total number of students to participate in Griffith ENG is capped for each campus due to capacity constraint;
Year 11 students will cover the Taste of Engineering stage of the Griffith ENG program in Terms 3 and 4. This will be a two-day intensive on-campus workshop run by Griffith School of Engineering;
Students will complete the project sessions and the written and oral assessment tasks of the Taste of Engineering as set by the Griffith School of Engineering;
Project content will be supplemented with additional hand-on tasks, as determined by teachers and Griffith University academic staff;
Students who successfully complete the Taste of Engineering stage of Griffith ENG will, if they so choose, continue with the program in Year 12 of their study. An administration fee of $85 will be payable to Griffith University by those students continuing with the program in Year 12;
Year 12 students will attend lectures at Griffith University campus in Terms 1 and 2 to cover the academic component of 1007ENG Engineering Fundamentals (on Gold Coast campus) or 1001ENG Engineering Practice & Sustainability (at Nathan campus);
Students will sit the end of program examination for 1007ENG Engineering Fundamentals (Gold Coast campus) or 1001ENG Engineering Practice & Sustainability (Nathan campus) in the Griffith University June examination period;
Students who receive a pass or better grade for the program, and meet entry admission pre-requisites, will receive guaranteed offer of entry into one of degree programs hosted by Griffith School of Engineering for which the course is a core requirement. .

Provide a schedule of programs for which Guaranteed Acceptance applies to the Griffith ENG Agreement;

You can complete a Griffith University Maths course while studying Year 11 and 12
The course revises and extends basic integral and differential calculus of one variable, introduces partial derivatives and basic vector algebra in two
and three dimensions. It provides a foundation for later studies in mathematics and science. This course acts as a bridge between the students'
previous experience in mathematics and further tertiary study in mathematics. It provides the basis for the acquisition of the basic computational and
theoretical skills necessary for the practising scientist, mathematician, engineer or pilot and introduces students to the mathematical way of thinking
desirable in the training of these professionals.
Aims, Objectives & Graduate Attributes
Course Aims
This course acts as a bridge between the students' previous experience in mathematics and further tertiary study in mathematics. It provides the basis
for the acquisition of the basic computational and theoretical skills necessary for the practising scientist, mathematician, engineer and pilot and
introduces students to the mathematical way of thinking desirable in the training of these professionals.
The course revises and extends basic integral and differential calculus of one variable, introduces partial derivatives and basic vectors in three
dimensions. It provides a mathematical foundation for later studies in mathematics and science.
Learning objectives
After successfully completing this course you should be able to:
1 Manipulate 2D and 3D vectors and use vector addition and subtraction as well as the dot and cross product of vectors. Use these ideas in problems
involving geometric, force and velocity vectors.
2 Know and use the standard addition formulas for sin, cos and tan. Be able to prove some of the simpler trig addition formulas. Understand and use
the inverse trigonometric functions.
3 Define and evaluate reasonably straightforward limits and be able to use and interpret the limit definition of the derivative.
4 Calculate derivatives using the sum, product, quotient and chain rule. Know the derivatives of basic functions.
5 Identify the local maxima, minima and points of inflection of straightforward functions and use this information to sketch the graphs of these
functions.
6 State and use the small change formula appropriately.
7 Convert word problems into mathematics and analyze them using calculus.
8 State and calculate Taylor approximations to standard functions.
9 State and use l'Hopital's rule to evaluate 0/0 limits.
10 Understand the definition of integrals using Riemann sums and be able to provide a variety of situations in which the integral is used besides
areas under curves.
11 State the Fundamental Theorem of Calculus and be able to evaluate simple definite and indefinite integrals.
12 Be able to use straightforward substitutions to evaluate integrals.
13 Use definite integrals to calculate areas.
14 Understand the geometric meaning and the analytic definition of partial derivatives. Calculate the first and second derivatives of
straightforward functions and be able to apply the small change formula for functions of several variables.

Complete Griffith University ICT courses while studying Year 11 and 12 school IPT The School of Information and Communication Technology (ICT), Griffith University will offer Year 11 and 12 students the opportunity to study Griffith University ICT courses while undertaking Senior IPT at High School. Griffith InfoTech is an excellent opportunity for students to experience university courses whilst completing their senior studies.
Griffith InfoTech is a two year program taken over your Year 11 and 12.
In Year 11 you will -
study the content of Griffith InfoTech 1 within the normal delivery of the IPT syllabus in your Year 11 Senior IPT subject. You will perform the assessment items associated with the Griffith University course 1001ICT Introduction to Programming. All content and assessment items will be undertaken at your School with your teachers.

If you then enrol in a Griffith University ICT degree you will be eligible for credit in 1001ICT Introduction to Programming for successfully completing Griffith InfoTech 1 and 1005ICT Object-oriented Programming for successfully completing Griffith InfoTech 2, providing these courses are core requirements in your degree. (Once enrolled at Griffith you apply for credit based on your Griffith InfoTech success. The Certificate of Completion will be your documentary evidence to support your credit application).
In addition, if you have done very well in Griffith InfoTech 1, by achieving an overall mark of 65% or higher in the assessment items, and meet the admission pre-requisites into an ICT degree program as nominated by Griffith University, you will be eligible for guaranteed admission on the proviso that you list that program as your first QTAC preference (see list of Griffith InfoTech guarantee admission degree programs).
Please be assured that the undertaking of Griffith InfoTech along with your IPT subjects will in no way be detrimental to your class results.

BETWEEN: SCHOOL xyz, of school address AND: GRIFFITH UNIVERSITY, a body corporate established pursuant to the Griffith University Act 1998, of Kessels Road, Nathan in the State of
Queensland, through the Science, Environment, Engineering and Technology Group. Parties to the Agreement The Science, Environment, Engineering and Technology Group, Griffith University and School xyz, being parties to this partnership agree that this Agreement is not a formal legal agreement giving rise to any legal relationship, rights, duties or consequences, but it is only a definite expression and record of the purpose of the partnership to which parties are bound in honour only. Scope of the Agreement This Agreement shall be known as Griffith InfoTech. The aim of the agreement is to establish and develop links with School xyz in respect to the delivery of Griffith University Griffith InfoTech program - including Griffith InfoTech 1 (Griffith course 1001ICT Introduction to Programming) and Griffith InfoTech 2 (Griffith course 1005ICT Object Oriented Programming) courses - to selected Year 11/12 students. The following is core to this Agreement – 1) ADMISSION to Griffith InfoTech courses at Griffith University

2) CREDIT Students who achieve a Pass or better in Griffith InfoTech 1 whilst studying at School xyz will receive, upon application, specified credit for the
course upon entry to any Griffith University program in which 1001ICT Introduction to Programming is a core requirement.
Students who achieve a Pass or better in Griffith InfoTech 2 whilst studying at School xyz will receive, upon application, specified credit for the course upon entry to any Griffith University program in which 1005ICT Object Oriented Programming is a core requirement.
3) GUARANTEED ADMISSION Students who meet the following criteria will be eligible to apply for guaranteed admission into selected School of Information and Communication
Technology programs at Griffith University provided that students:
achieve an overall mark of 65% or higher in the assessment items for Griffith InfoTech 1(or 2?);
meet the subject prerequisites for admission into their nominated School of Information and Communication Technology program at Griffith University;
they maintain that they are OP eligible.
OPERATIONAL GUIDELINES The parties regard the following areas to be requirements of the agreement: School xyz Delivery of course responsibilities
Cover the content of the Griffith InfoTech 1 syllabus to Year 11/12 students within the normal delivery of their Information Processing and Technology (IPT)studies;
Cover the content of the Griffith InfoTech 2 syllabus to Year 11/12 students within the normal delivery of their IPT studies;
Students will complete Griffith InfoTech 1 and Griffith InfoTech 2 assessment items;
All assessment items for Griffith InfoTech 1 and Griffith InfoTech 2 will be assessed at the School;
Ensure only those students who have completed English and Maths A subjects with a grade of C or higher are admitted into the Griffith InfoTech program;
Administrative responsibilities
Staff nominated by the School must communicate with Griffith University about the administration of the courses and use of resources;
The School must administer the course within their School;
The School must ensure students complete the “Application for Griffith University Courses Undertaken in High School” form and attach semester reports to be submitted for processing by Griffith University before commencing a Griffith InfoTech course.
The nominated High School staff must provide the results of assessment for students in a timely manner to the Gold Coast Campus convenor for Griffith InfoTech 1 and Griffith InfoTech 2;
The nominated High School staff to ensure only students who have achieved a 50% or higher on the overall assessment total for Griffith InfoTech 1 are eligible to advance into Griffith InfoTech 2;
Griffith University has the obligation to report Griffith InfoTech enrolments to Queensland Studies Authority (QSA Therefore, Griffith University must be advised by the nominated high school staff member of any students who decide to withdraw from a Griffith InfoTech course in a timely manner to ensure that they are correctly withdrawn from both Griffith University student records and recorded on their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) correctly;
The nominated School staff must inform Griffith University promptly of any students that withdraw from the program; Griffith University, Gold Coast campus
Provide a schedule of programs for which Guaranteed Acceptance applies to the Griffith InfoTech Agreement;
Provide relevant communication to the School regarding the administration of the courses and use of resources;
Provide electronic copies of all resources necessary to teach the course;
Be available for consultation with teachers with respect to content concerns;
Provide 1 Guest Lecture per School Term for students to attend at Griffith University, Gold Coast campus;
All students that successfully complete the course will be provided with an academic transcript. ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESS 1) At least once a year, the Dean, Learning and Teaching, Science, Environment, Engineering and Technology Group, Griffith University (or delegate) and a
School representative meet to oversee the processes described in this Agreement. 2) This Agreement will be subject to review, by both parties, every two years commencing Term 1, year to be entered. 3) Long term tracking of students from the School through Griffith University and into the work force may be considered by the parties. 4) This Agreement is not affected by changes of personnel at either institution. PUBLICITY AND PROMOTION
The partners of this agreement are approved to seek to achieve the maximum exposure and recognition possible for all of the parties to this agreement. Where possible joint publicity and promotional opportunities should be explored between the parties involved. While giving effect to all written marketing, promotion, sponsorship and media documentation, and policies, and complying with agreements approved and entered into by the partners, each of the parties may also promote their involvement with the event by any form of media or communication channel provided that no party states or implies it is the primary or major host of the Agreement. Each party is to acknowledge appropriately the involvement of all the other parties and should, as a courtesy, request approval by the other parties named on the understanding that this approval should not be unreasonably withheld. All advertising material used by either party must have the prior written approval of the other party in verifying that the content, layout, copyright and appropriate usage of logos and emblems meet the guidelines and requirements of both institutions. Students who pass stage 1 requirements and achieve 50% or higher will be invited to continue with the Griffith INFOSYS program in Year 12.
In the Griffith INFO SYS program, Year 12 students (stage 2) will -
Study the content of the second half of the Griffith INFOSYS program. This will be undertaken under the supervision of teachers from the school.
Complete the stage 2 project for Griffith INFOSYS during the first semester (Term 1 and 2) of the Year 12 academic year. This project will be submitted online.

2) GUARANTEED ADMISSION Students who meet the following criteria will be eligible to apply for guaranteed admission into the Bachelor of Business Information Systems at
Griffith University provided that:
the student achieves an overall mark of 50% or higher both Griffith InfoSys Part 1 & Part 2;
meet the subject prerequisites for admission into the Bachelor of Business Information Systems;
they maintain that they are OP eligible
3) CREDIT Students who, over the two years of engagement, achieve a Pass or better in Griffith InfoSys 1&2 whilst studying at School [insert here] will receive, upon application, specified credit for the course upon entry to any Griffith University program in which 1008ICT Business Informatics is a core requirement.

Staff nominated by the School must communicate with Griffith University about the administration of the courses and use of resources;
The High School must administer the course within their School;
The High School must ensure students complete the “Application for Griffith University Courses Undertaken in High School” form before commencing the Griffith InfoSys course.
The nominated High School staff must provide the results of assessment for students in a timely manner to the Nathan Campus convenor for Griffith InfoSys Part 1 and Griffith InfoSys Part 2;
The nominated High School staff to ensure only students who have achieved a 50% or higher on the overall assessment total for Griffith InfoSys Part 1 are eligible to advance into Griffith InfoSys Part 2;
Griffith University has the obligation to report Griffith InfoSys enrolments to Queensland Studies Authority (QSA). Therefore, Griffith University must be advised by the nominated high school staff member of any students who decide to withdraw from a Griffith InfoSys course in a timely manner to ensure that they are correctly withdrawn from both Griffith University student records and recorded on their Queensland Certificate of Education (QCE) correctly;
The nominated School staff must inform Griffith University promptly of any student that withdraws from the program;
Ensure School Guidance Officers are kept informed of any student withdraws and/or poor academic performance; Griffith University, Nathan campus
Provide relevant communication to the School regarding the administration of the courses and use of resources;
Provide electronic copies of all resources necessary to teach the course;
Be available for consultation with teachers with respect to content concerns;
Provide 1 Guest Lecture per School Term for students to attend at Griffith University, Nathan campus;
All students that successfully complete the course will be provided with an academic transcript. ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESS 1) At least once a year, the Dean, Learning and Teaching, Science, Environment, Engineering and Technology Group, Griffith University (or delegate) and a
School representative meet to oversee the processes described in this Agreement. 2) This Agreement will be subject to review, by both parties, every two years commencing Term 3, year to be entered. 3) Long term tracking of students from the School through Griffith University and into the work force may be considered by the parties. 4) This Agreement is not affected by changes of personnel at either institution. PUBLICITY AND PROMOTION The partners of this agreement are approved to seek to achieve the maximum exposure and recognition possible for all of the parties to this agreement. Where possible joint publicity and promotional opportunities should be explored between the parties involved. While giving effect to all written marketing, promotion, sponsorship and media documentation, and policies, and complying with agreements approved and entered into by the partners, each of the parties may also promote their involvement with the event by any form of media or communication channel provided that no party states or implies it is the primary or major host of the Agreement. Each party is to acknowledge appropriately the involvement of all the other parties and should, as a courtesy, request approval by the other parties named on the understanding that this approval should not be unreasonably withheld. All advertising material used by either party must have the prior written approval of the other party in verifying that the content, layout, copyright and appropriate usage of logos and emblems meet the guidelines and requirements of both institutions.
