• MMFAP2 (2014 – 2016) – 13 applications approved
to date (1.7 million in funding)
• 137 approved applications ($5.8 million in funding) for the adoption of BMPs to mainly increase and repair manure storage capacity and improve extensive wintering of livestock facilities

• EFP program is administered and delivered by MAFRD and EFP
reviews are completed by Keystone Agriculture Producers.
• 134 EFP workshops held and 10 other training events
• 520 producers trained under GF2
• 6,674 EFP completed since the start of the program.
Implementing Assurance Systems Environmental Sustainability – EG&S
• Working with Conservation Districts and producers to implement beneficial management practices with a focus on water quality.
• approved 116 applications for $1.97 million mainly on riparian area enhancement and water retention structure projects

• 36 processors received $1.7 million in funding. • Projects have purchased equipment to create products to enter
new markets, increase production capacity, automate and help small to medium sized enterprises (SMEs) expand.
• Projects include: – Meat Products, Dairy, Bakery, Vegetable/Fruit Preserving
and Manufacturing, Ready Meals, Confectionary, and Milling – Flax (Growing Actions)
• Developing tasty and healthy food products in order to make Health Claims
• Survey and flax growers reference guide
Value Added and Business Development– Product Development and Commercialization
• 15 processors received $9.4 million in funding which leveraged an additional $45 million
• Projects have also increased demand for agricultural inputs including Manitoba potatoes, vegetables, canola oil, flour, beef, poultry, cheese, hemp seeds, etc.
• Projects include: – equipment to expand production capacity, reduce unwanted
waste, maintain product quality and meet environmental regulations

Association forage crop tour; MB Conservation Districts Association Annual Conference; MB Sheep Association Symposium and Tour; a packaging workshop for food entrepreneurs at the Richardson Centre
– The Young Farmers Conference provides young farmers with valuable learning opportunities for farm management skills
– The Richardson Centre workshops educate food processors actively pursuing business and risk management planning
Skill Development and Leadership Capacity – Outcomes • Enabled 38 young farmers to get established and develop solid
farm businesses by investing $148,160.50 – A young farmer attended the first module of Canadian Total
Excellence in Agricultural Management (CTEAM) and will be reimbursed up to $2,625.00.
• 10 organizations enhanced their organizational capacity by providing $226,000 in funding to develop strategic plans.
• Strategic Planning for the Future of Manitoba Flax Industry is $12,000.
• The Growing Actions program provided around $2.8 million in funding to 25 Agricultural Organizations for sector market development, sector risk management, improvement in productivity, adoption of best business practices and building skills and leadership capacity initiatives.

• Manitoba Soybean Crush Feasibility Study – Soy 20/20 provided the Manitoba Pulse and Soybean Growers (MPSG)
an overall understanding of the value added opportunity for a soybean crushing facility in Manitoba
• Pathogen Surveillance Initiative (PSI) Pilot – The Manitoba Canola Growers Association (MCGA) through the PSI
Pilot project aims to provide growers information pertaining to crop pathogen status in Manitoba before visual symptoms occur
• Improving Production for New and Growing Markets – To identify best business practices significant in enhancing the yield
stability of flax in Manitoba , Flax Council of Canada conducted a survey research to determine the key drivers and barriers of the industry .
