GSM BASED BUS PASSENGER COUNTING SYSTEM USING RFID CARD

PROBLEM DEFINITION

1. MANUAL DATA ENTRY SYSTEM :

The conductor has to enter the data manually.

SOLUTION :

GSM system is used here .

2. BUS PASS HOLDERS :

(a) No “On The Spot” entry of pass holders . (b) Paper allotment . SOLUTIONS : (a) Updating of pass holders’ data . (b) RFID card/tag would be provided .

3. PAPER WORK : Passes provided are made of paper .

SOLUTION :

RFID card/tag would reduce this paper work .

4. BUSES PROBLEM DURING PEAK HOURS : Buses are not used properly .

SOLUTION : ● Proper use of buses would be possible. ● Efficient and economical. ● Fuel consumption would be minimized.

NEED OF PROJECT

● Proper counting of passengers is not in use .

● Manually data entry process is continued since many years .

● Paper work needs to be reduced .

● On The Spot entry of pass holders .

● Standard and comfortable passenger system for public buses .

LITRETURE REVIEW

● Carrying more passengers than capacity by bus.

● Excessive passengers is one of the causes of many accidents .

● We need to limit the number of extra passengers to be accommodated.   ● Passengers feel unsafe on overloaded public transport .

● Use of public transport should be promoted .

● Issuing of RFID card/tag to the pass holders .

● Md. Foisal Mahedi Hasan, the paper titled as “RFID-based Ticketing for Public Transport System: Perspective Mega City Dhaka”, which portrays about the public transport ticketing system, prevailing in the megacity Dhaka (Bangladesh),introduces severe malfunction in the system, malicious argument among public, corruption and most of all traffic jam.

● Ben Ammer Hatem, the paper titled as “Bus Management System using RFID in the WSN which describes a novel approach to integrate RFID in WSN(Wireless Sensor Network).

● Journal of Public Transportation, vol.14,No.4,2011 This research explores the application of achieved data from Automated Data Collection systems(ADCS) to transport planning with a focus on bus passenger travel behaviour,including Origin- Destination(OD) inference, using London as a case study.

● No bargaining.

● Fixed and appropriate rates.

● Charges will be decided by government.

● Solves the train scarcity problem or reservation problem of the passengers.
