DAILY RESOLUTIONS

The idea of "twenty-four-hour living" applies primarily to the emotional life of the individual. Emotionally speaking, we must not live in yesterday, nor in tomor-row. A New Year: 12 months, 52 weeks, 365 days, 8,760 hours, 525,600 minutes — a time to consider directions, goals, and actions. I must make some plans to live a normal life, but also I must live emo-tionally within a twenty-four-hour frame, for if I do, I don't have to make New Year's resolutions! I can make every day a New Year's day! I can decide, "Today I will do this . . . Today I will do that." Each day I can measure my life by trying to do a little better, by deciding to follow God's will and by making an effort to put the principles of our A.A. program into action.

Featured Pamphlet: The “God” Word - Agnostic and Atheist Members in A.A.

Excerpts:

* “Let us always try to be inclusive rather than exclusive; let us reme-ber that each alcoholic among us is a member of A.A., so long as he or she declares.” * “Whatever you do, please don’t let someone else’s religious beliefs prevent you from finding the solu-tions that is available to you through Alcoholics Anonymous.” * “I believe that the first stage in my recovery was a deep-down ho-nesty with myself, admitting that alcohol was controlling me and that there was nothing I could do about it on my own. I needed a power greater than alcohol and greater than me - and I found that power in Alcoholics Anonymous..”

In Bill W.’s Words:

“We have atheists and agnostics. We have people of nearly every race, cultuRe and religion. In A.A. we are supposed to be bound together in the kin-ship of a common suffering. Consequently, the full individual liberty to practice any creed or principle or therapy whatever should be a first consideration for us all. Let us not, therefore, pressure anyone with our individual or even our collective views. Let us instead accord each other the respect and love that is due to every human being as he tries to make his way toward the light.”

As Bill Sees It

(B-5)

This brochure brings together shares of atheist and agnostic members.

“This volume includes several hun-

dred excerpts from our literature,

touching nearly every aspect of

A.A.’s way of life. It is felt that this

material may become an aid to indi-

vidual meditation and a stimulant to

group discussion, and may well lead

to a still wider reading of all our lite-

rature.”

Hello, my name is ______, I am an alcoholic and the literature representative to the group.

A.A. literature includes dozens of books and pamphlets on all topics related to alcoholism, recovery and service. There are also La Vigne, Le Grapevine and La Viña, which are magazines full of alcoholic sharings and useful information.

However, it is suggested that we start by getting (and reading) our Big Book, Alcoholics Anonymous.

As we often hear, "it is better to read our publications so as not to be a victim of those who do not read them".
