STRINGS IN THE SCHOOLS SPRING CONCERT MARCH 26

Our Strings in the Schools program will present its annual Spring Concert on Tuesday, March 26, at 6:30 p.m. in the Bob Boldrick Theater in the Carson City Community Center. The

concert, led by Symphony Education Director Sue Jesch, will include performances by Beginning Violins, String Ensemble, Pizzazz, and the advanced "alternative styles" ensemble, STRAZZ.

STRAZZ will perform a new work, Reflections, written for the group by Idaho-based composer

Gary Edwards (pictured). The composer will attend the premiere of his work. This concert will feature some surprises and special effects, it is not to be missed! Admission is free.

CARSON HIGH SCHOOL ORCHESTRA NEWS The Carson High Orchestra, directed by Jarod Sorum, will

participate in the Nevada Music Educators Association Northern Zone High School Band & Orchestra Festival, tentatively scheduled for Thursday, March 7, 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., at the Carson City Community Center.

The orchestra also will perform in the Carson High Spring Band concert, tentatively scheduled for Friday, March 8, 7:00 p.m. at the Carson City Community Center.

Both events are free and open to the public. See CCSymphony.com to confirm the dates.

WE NEED …… Carson City Symphony Association is a low-budget

organization with no paid administrative staff. Our main expenses are concert-hall rental, guest soloists' and conductors' honoraria, music rental and purchase, insurance, printing, mailing, marketing, and other operating expenses.

Through the years, through purchases and donations, we have acquired symphonic and choral music libraries, shell and risers, percussion equipment, a trailer to transport equipment, file cabinets, and instruments for students whose families cannot afford purchase or rental costs. However, as we grow, more items are needed. Our current needs are for: • Two tables (folding tables okay) for rehearsal studio. • Many chairs with no arms, preferably padded (folding

(folding okay) for studio. • A sturdy stand for electronic keyboard. • More string instruments for students - violins,

violas, cellos, basses. If you have any of these items to contribute, please call the

Symphony at 775-883-4154.
