Activity : SOCIAL ACTIVITY – A VISIT TO “SEEM SHALA”

Om Engineering College has organized Social Activity - A VISIT TO “SEEM SHALA” by Electrical

Department under the co-ordination of Mr. Bhavesh K. Chotaliya Ms. Ruchi N. Vyas Prof. Mehul M.

Baraiya.

A SEEM shala is the schools running in the small villages in Gujarat. They student strength is very low in

such type of schools because of the village is in backward areas. We have visited seem shala which is

situated at the village named Dhandhusar (Dist. Junagadh).

The department of Electrical Engineering from Om Engineering College has visited this school for the

distribution of the educational kit to the students of Shri Dhandhusar Seem Shala.




Students were actively engaged in the social activity as the parade has roam the whole village streets twice

and gathered in the Seem Shala Campus and distributed the educational kits which includes pen , pencils,

notebook, crayons, sketchbook, folders, eraser, sharpener etc.

Whole day was spent to engage the students in various types of activities and it was fruitful when students

of Om engineering were leaving to the Om College Campus, students of seem shala were asking for next

visit. Apart from this they were given lunch on behalf of department of electrical engineering, Om

Engineering College, Junagadh.

Activity : INDUSTRIAL VISIT at Solar power plant, Upleta

Type : INDUSTRIAL VISIT

Venue : Mervadar (Upleta)

Our main purpose for this visit is familiar with industrial environment and to get practical knowledge and

learn where & how we apply our theoretical knowledge in real application.

25MW Solar Power Plant By Ganges Green Energy Private Limited (GGEPL).

It is located at Mervadar, Tal.-Upleta & Dist-Rajkot. By use of Solar panel, the capacity of 25MW of Solar

Power Station is working.

We entered in to the plant we shown that there was Thirty unit for producing electricity and capacity of this

plant is 25 MW. There was all units are working at that time.

The information about plant which have been we got below,




Ganges Green Energy Private Limited (GGEPL) is implementing a 25 MW solar photovoltaic

technology based power project in Mervadar & Dhank village, Upleta tehsil in Rajkot district of Gujarat.

The electricity generate from the project activity would be supplied to the North-East-West-North East

(NEWNE) grid. GGEPL has signed a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Gujarat Urja Vikas Nigam

Limited (GUVNL) for a period of 25 years.

After that we where go to control room. In control room they control whole plant automatically using

SCADA system & control panels are used to control the system and also indicate the system conditions.

In Control panel we learn about different relays which used for protection.

In last at switch yard we learn transmission system. We also learn the equipment like lighting arrester, CT

& PT, transformer, insulator etc.

A mini switchyard shall be set up to facilitate power evacuation. The switchyard shall be located adjacent to

11kV HT Control Building. There shall be 15 numbers of 2MVA, 66/11 kV rating transformer. The

transformer will be located in the plant switchyard and paralleled with the Gujarat Energy Development

Agency (GEDA) substation located at Mervadar Village.

From this visit, we get the information about the Solar power plant and working of its. We get practical

knowledge for our future. We also get information about the instrument which comes in our study in future.




3 Activity : Expert Talk Report On “MATLAB”

The purpose of an Expert Talk was subjective depth knowledge and also learn how we apply our theoretical

knowledge in real application.

Our expert Mr.Ankit Patel who completed his B.E.(E.E.) from Modasa and M.TECH(Control System)

from VJTI, Mumbai delivered a speech on matlab and students are showing their interest in „matlab‟.

MATLAB is a tool for technical computing, computation and visualization in an integrated environment.

MATLAB is an abbreviation for Matrix Laboratory, so it is well suited for matrix manipulation and

problem solving related to Linear Algebra and engineering. MATLAB offers lots of additional Toolboxes

for different areas such as Electrical Engineering, Control Design, Image Processing, Digital Signal

Processing, etc.




We are gladly & thankful to Director as well as Principal, Dr. H. M. Nimbark sir and Head of the

Department Mr. Rahul A. Parmar for Permission and constant support for „Expert Talk‟.We are

especially thankful to Prof. Ankit Patel for sharing valuable knowledge about „Matlab‟.

Expert Cover most useful topic which is related basic of matlab, it is very important for students to improve

knowledge and interest on software for future project.

Cover topic which are fundamental and basic useful to understand the Matlab functions like matrix

operation, programming & simulation etc.

After completion of Expert talk, expert has interacted with student to clear the Doubt about „Matlab‟.

The Expert explained and illustrated by varied direction about the Matlab. We learnt usefulness of

fundamental Knowledge which is important to understand the subject as well as useful in Project works. We

also learnt information about software use in Industrial application like matlab, psim,scilab etc.

1 Activity: Industrial Visit on Water Treatment Plant at Jetpur

Type : Industrial Visit

March 2014

Venue: Water treatment plant, Jetpur

Om Engineering College has organized a visit in “Common Effluent Treatment plant” in Jetpur by the

students 6th semester of Civil Department under the co-ordination of Prof. N.A.Sherathia.

The first stage of the visit started from the initial tank where the waste water of city and industries is

collected. Then that flow is collected from the inlet pipe. And remove the larger solid inorganic

material such as paper and plastic by the rotating chamber.

Mr. Gondaliya , the incharge officer of water treatment plant guided all the students about entire

process of water treatment plant.




The collected waste water transport at Preliminary treatment chamber, wastewater is passed through a

primary sedimentation tank where solid particles of organic material are removed from the suspension

by gravity settling. The resultant settled primary sludge is raked to the centre of the tank where it is

concentrated and pumped away for further treatment.

The next step of the treatment process is secondary clarifier. The water from the primary tank is

transported to the clarifier for adding chemicals for the secondary treatment after checking the PH value

of waste water.




This next stage is a biological process which breaks down dissolved and suspended organic solids by

using naturally occurring micro-organisms. It is called the activated sludge process.

All the student were in hurry up and in excitement for knowing the next steps water treatment .The next

steps for wastewater treatment plants use disinfection for tertiary treatment to reduce pathogens, which

are micro-organisms which can pose a risk to human health.

Mr. Gondaliya explains the detail process of tertiary treatment.In which Chlorine is usually dosed into

the treated wastewater stream for disinfection. However, uses large ponds in which sunlight and other

micro-organisms reduce the pathogens.

Activity : Seminar On Entrepreneurship Development

Many students have dream to be an entrepreneur but due to lack of guidance and support their ideas

remain un fulfilled, and this lack sometimes lead to end up shortly or go in vail. To prevent this immature

death or end ups GTU started Student Startup Support System (S4) co-creation center.

OM Engineering College, Junagadh also supports their student‟s startups and tries to develop

entrepreneurship skills of students. As a part of S4 activities our institute invited some well known

entrepreneurs to guide students about entrepreneurship development. We had invited Mr. Jatin

Chaudhary (Co-founder of eChai) and their team to guide our students; they accepted our invitation and

visited our campus on 22nd

April, 2014. Our pre-final year and final year students of computer

engineering and electrical engineering had a chance to attend this seminar

Expert guests were warmly welcomed by Dr. H. M. Nimbark (Principal/Director) of OM Engineering

College, Junagadh. He also gave a brief about entrepreneurship to students.

Mr. Jatin Chaudhary (Co-founder of eChai) began the session by sharing his own experience of Nirma




College how he failed in one semester yet he tried hard to clear the subject and somehow he could cleare

the semester. But he shared his moment of regret when he failed and felt that this failure was due to his

lack of interest. And on the same moment he had started thinking of his keen interest and always tried to

emphasize to that area. And finally he achieved the success.

He addressed the students how to become an entrepreneur, what is actually entrepreneurship, what to do

to become an entrepreneur. He introduce about eChai and their work doing in Gujarat/India and various

country. He also explained work done in Dang district. He said that the product which is build in dang

and sold in Harvard University.

Thus, he addressed students that it is not necessary that big product van be sold or made in big countries

only. Product built in small village also have some good value.

After that he called some students on the stage and interacted with asking about their goal. Student also

were very happy in this interactive session. He said the session will be live then its more effecttive,

student came forward and spread their idea among the society.

Student shared what they want to do in their life, Mr. Jatin Chaudhary asked some questions regarding

their idea. Students asked for solution and Mr. Jatin Chaudhary gave some useful advice to them.

Then after, Mr. Jatin Chaudhary called Mr. Amit Panchal (Co-founder of Allevents.in) he told

about himself how he became a computer graduate, passing out in 2010 and started a company Amitech

in 2 months. Built many products at Amitech and got huge success with the product called All Events in

City. Now after 3 years of amazing journey at All Events, starting a new fun project called Panchat.in -

Anonymous group.

He shared their journey how he became an entrepreneur. What was the scenario when he studied at L D

Engineering College, Mr. Amit also explained how he started the all events and how he got the success in

their idea. He addressed the students that something which you want to achieve first you should schedule

your task and identify what you want to achieve in your life. Which means first define goal and then work

accordingly.

Mr Jatin asked some questions related to their journey and Mr. Amit answered nicely mainly which




included what should you do at first to succeed in life?, what constrain do you need to define for this? ,

Which problem you have to face to achieve the place etc.

Mr Jatin encouraged students to ask some questions to Mr Amit. He answered nicely and students were

satisfied with the answer.

After that Mr Jatin invited Mr. Prajwal Praju (Co-Founder, Interestship.com) on stage. He introduced

himself he completed Computers'13 grad from RV College of Engineering Bangalore, quit his job at

VMware as he wanted to explore his interests.

He is Co-founder at Interestship.com with a vision to help people in finding their passion. He has

expertised in various domains of technology. His core interests are to explore, travel, create, teach, help

and change things.

He addressed student that do what you love rather than some routine work as this will make you get

success in your life.

Mr jatin asked some questions to MR Prajwal about his carrier as how he was inspired to become an

entrepreneur, how Interestship.com and such other ideas strike to him.

And so on, the session ended with meeting with trusty member Mr. Manishbhai Boghra and Mr. Jaydip

Bhai Vaghela. Mr. Manishbhai shared their experience that how he and other trusty members reached at

this level. About the vision and mission of the institute, and what is the goal of Om engineering college,

he again invite the whole team at OEC and offered an open invitation to arrange and benefit the students

with such seminars. Mr Jatin and all other team members offered vote of thanks to trusty members,

principal sir, Gajera sir, and other supporting staff and students.

Activity : Seminar On REAL TIME PROJECT DEVELOPMENT: ISSUES AND CHALLENGES

Type : Seminar

“REAL TIME PROJECT DEVELOPMENT: ISSUES AND CHALLENGES” was organized and

conducted by Su-Kem info Zone IT Company, Ahmedabad for students of 6th sem Degree and 4

th sem

diploma CE/IT students.

Agenda behind this seminar was to aware students about technical knowledge that is required by

industries so that students can get clear vision about placement criteria and what industry really expect

from fresher‟s and CE/IT Engineers and selection of pre-final year students for training in final

semester in which they were given live projects to work on.

There is a huge gap between the fresh engineering graduate skills and the skills demanded by

corporate;Su-Kem is taking its first step towards bridging this “SKILL GAP” with forwad thinking

approach.

Schedule of Su-Kem info Zone was :

Technical Test : 1 hour (Paper Format : A,B,C,D from syllabus of 1-4 sem in diploma and 1-6 sem of

degree of computer's subject only)

Seminar : 1.30 hour

Interview : selected students based on the marks of the test will be appeared in interview. Students

who get good marks in the test as well as in interview and financial condition is not well can get free

project training and liable for live project working

We had invited su-Kem info zone team to guide our students; they accepted our invitation and visited our

campus.




From Diloma CE/IT total 40 students and Degree CE total 40 students appeared in technical test.

After technical test ,within an hour , result was displayed as 33 students from degree and 30 students from

diploma had cleared test and eligible for PI.

Beginning of the session: Su-Kem Team has flashed on company,

Su-Kem is a company which uses a combination of various Teaching Methods such as cases, Projects,

Events, Independent Studies, Computer Aided instructions , Group Discussion , Expert Lectures ,

Seminars, Workshops , Presentation By Students and interaction with eminent personalities of the

industry as well as government.

All the CE degree faculty along with CE/IT diploma faculty as attended seminar and also understood

what is corporate actually expect from students and how to train students so that they will always go

ahead in industry after passing engineering.

Founder of Su-Kem has told about various aspects of developing projects and also required skills.

He has told students to raise questions about what and whichever topics they studies in their college




curriculum.

Start searching answer of that questions that are in your mind then after take help of faculty so in those

way good self learning skills would be developed.

Activity : Visit Of S4 Boot Camp on Crowd-Funding

Type : Workshop

April 2014 Venue: S4 Co-Creation Center, ACPC Building, GTU Ahmedabad Campus

GIC (GTU Innovation Council) organized two day long workshop on crowd funding on 5th

and 6th

March 2014. GIC invited Mr. Ateet Bajaj (founder Start51), Mr. Jatin Choudhary(founder of echai)

and experts from NID to bring their best experience to the workshops.

GIC invited some selected student startups to attend this workshop. Two students of OM Engineering

college, junagadh who have registered their startups were invited to attend this workshop. Bhimani yogi

and singala dipen student of 6th computer attended this workshop with Mr. Mehul Gundaliya, Asst. prof.

in computer engineering department of OM Engineering College.

Workshop was started with speech of Mr. Hirnamay Mahanta on first day of workshop. He said about

what is Crowd funding and how co-creation is a must to move forward. Then after, Mr. Ateet Bajaj

continues workshop. He explained from where to start crowd funding.

Mr. Ateet Bajaj explained about Idea pitching and SWOT analysis of startup project. Then after S4 team

have provided materials for SWOT analysis of their startups. Each team performs hands on exercise for

SWOT analysis of their project. After SWOT analysis Mr. Bajaj explains importance and types of

rewards in crowd funding.

The last session of first day was conducted by Mr. Jatin Choudhary, he shared their experiences of echai

and he also explained how to tell our story to others.

On second day of workshop experts of NID teach how to make pitch video for advertisement of startup.

Department have participated in the expert talk and had a interactive question- answer sessions.

Shri Sunilbhai D Domadiya working an educationalist and mind power trainer. Workshop expert

rendered his expertise to all workshop participants on effective use of mind power. Approximately 300

students from our degree and diploma side were attending the seminar.

Beyond the Power of Your Subconscious Mind

The treasure house is within you. Look within for the answer to your heart‟s desire.

The great secret possessed by the great people of all ages was their ability to contact and release

the powers of their subconscious mind. You can do the same.

Your subconscious has the answer to all problems. If you suggest to your subconscious prior to

sleep, “I want to get up at 6 a.m.,” it will awaken you at that exact time.

Your subconscious mind is the builder of your body and can heal you. Lull yourself to sleep




every night with the idea of perfect health, and your subconscious, being your faithful servant,

will obey you.

Every thought is a cause, and every condition is an effect.

If you want to write a book, write a wonderful play, give a better talk to your audience, convey

the idea lovingly and feelingly to your subconscious mind, and it will respond accordingly.

You are like a captain navigating a ship. He must give the right orders, and likewise, you must

give the right orders (thoughts and images) to your subconscious mind which controls and

governs all your experiences.

Never use the terms, “I can‟t afford it” or “I can‟t do this.” Your subconscious mind takes you at

your word and sees to it that you do not have the money or the ability to do what you want to do.

Affirm, “I can do all things through the power of my subconscious mind.”

The law of life is the law of belief. A belief is a thought in your mind. Do not believe in things to

harm or hurt you. Believe in the power of your subconscious to heal, inspire, strengthen, and

prosper you.

Change your thoughts, and you change your destiny.

Your subconscious mind does not argue with you. It accepts what your conscious mind decrees.

If you say, “I can‟t afford it,” it may be true, but do not say it. Select a better thought, decree,

“I‟ll buy it. I accept it in my mind.”

You have the power to choose. Choose health and happiness. You can choose to be friendly, or

you can choose to be unfriendly. Choose to be cooperative, joyous, friendly, lovable, and the

whole world will respond. This is the best way to develop a wonderful personality.

Your conscious mind is the “watchman at the gate.” Its chief function is to protect your

subconscious mind from false impressions. Choose to believe that something good can happen

and is happening now. Your greatest power is your capacity to choose. Choose happiness and

abundance.

The suggestions and statements of others have no power to hurt you. The only power is the

movement of your own thought. You can choose to reject the thoughts or statements of others

and affirm the good. You have the power to choose how you will react.

Watch what you say. You have to account for every idle word. Never say, “I will fail; I will lose

my job; I can‟t pay the rent.” Your subconscious cannot take a joke. It brings all these things to

pass.




Your mind is not evil. No force of nature is evil. It depends how you use the powers of nature.

Use your mind to bless, heal, and inspire all people everywhere.

Never say, “I can‟t.” Overcome that fear by substituting the following, “I can do all things

through the power of my own subconscious mind.”

Begin to think from the standpoint of the eternal truths and principles of life and not from the

standpoint of fear, ignorance, and superstition. Do not let others do your thinking for you.

Choose your own thoughts and make your own decisions.

You are the captain of your soul (subconscious mind) and the master of your fate. Remember,

you have the capacity to choose. Choose life! Choose love! Choose health! Choose happiness!

Whatever your conscious mind assumes and believes to be true, your subconscious mind will

accept and bring to pass. Believe in good fortune, divine guidance, right action, and all the

blessings of life.

Personal Responsibility, hard working and Success in School:

Understanding yourself, setting goals, and planning help build important foundations, but action is

required to make your dreams come true. To take control of your life it is necessary to choose and take

appropriate action. Take charge. Move forward (or at least move!). A pervasive drive for most people is

a belief that they have control over important aspects of their lives. A belief in one‟s own academic

ability, for example, is a reliable predictor of academic achievement.

Unless people believe that they can produce desired effects by their actions, they have little incentive to

act....[Self-efficacy] beliefs influence aspirations and strength of goal commitments, level of motivation

and perseverance in the face of difficulties and setbacks, resilience to adversity, quality of analytic

thinking, causal attributes for successes and failures, and vulnerability to stress and depression.

In order to become more determined, motivated, and ambitious and to find the strength to work harder

and persevere, we must believe that those efforts will pay off. How can we develop more positive self-

efficacy beliefs?

Our expectations about our efficacy are derived from four sources of information performance

accomplishments, vicarious experience, verbal persuasion, and physiological states. We can alter our

self-efficacy beliefs by direct action, by the observation of others (role models), through the guidance of

people (mentors) we respect who tell us that we can achieve, and through certain physical states such as

relaxation. Successful people need to advocate for themselves, work hard, and persevere.

Successful adults with disabilities demonstrate a willingness to take risks and are resilient when they

encounter setbacks, keeping their eye on the ultimate goal. These individuals are also astute in selecting




goals for themselves, choosing careers that capitalize on their strengths. They develop creative strategies

and techniques to compensate for areas of weakness. Perhaps the most notable characteristics of this

group of individuals are persistence and commitment to hard work.

The idea of working hard and long was not something to be applied occasionally but was simply a way

of life. Additionally, persistence was emblematic of powerful resiliency, the ability to deal with failure

by not giving up and trying again.

Young people need to take action in order to reach goals. They also need to learn from their experiences

by reflecting on the outcomes of their actions. Through completing the following online activities,

participants will learn the importance of

Taking risks.

Taking action.

Persevering.

Learning from experiences, both successes and setbacks.

Communicating effectively.

Anticipating conflict and criticism.

Using strategies to resolve conflicts in constructive ways.

After the completion of last presentation, Prof. B.M.Garala has offered a letter of thanks as a token of

appreciation to Shri. Sunil Domadiya and addressed the session with vote for thanks and the event

certificates were distributed to all participants.

Manifest is an endeavor to provide a stage to opportunity for students. It‟s an attempt to not only celebrate a

fruitful step but stands for students‟ success as staircase of achievement. Manifest stands for the present

scenario and its developed growth as project exhibition. The collective efforts have been experimented

towards the problem of society with the aim to fulfill the needs as well as comforts. Ideas will be placed as

projects exhibition in front of society. It‟s stage where each engineer can demonstrate their creative ideas

for the solutions of problem which faced by society.

Objectives of Manifest ’14:

To encourage the students potentials for global competitions.

To share the thoughts and knowledge with present technology to Industrialist.

To develop innovative skills as well as ideas through students exposure.

To fulfill the current technologies demand.

To provide the platform to demonstrate project for actual problem.




It was 28th March 2014 when OM Engineering College and OM Institute of Engineering and Technology

kept the doors open for the event; the occasion was Manifest 2014 – the Technical Exhibition of Projects

made by the students.

The inaugural function took place sharp at 10:00 o‟clock as scheduled. Mr. Imran Khan, working as an

Asst. Prof. in English, taking the responsibility of anchoring the function, first of all briefly welcomed all

the invited guests especially to Shree Vajubhai Vala, the speaker legislative assembly, Gujarat, who was the

chief guest of the event. Below were the guests of honor sitting on the dais.

Mechanical Engineering Project Exhibition

Modern Sugarcane Crusher Movable suger crane crushing machine having simple drive mechanism with 7.5 HP diesel engine duel

power transmission system for moving crusher and vehicle by anguaging and disanguaging simple gears

and pulley we can run suger crane crusher and vehicle.

Innovative Cycle (Electrical Cycle) Simple cycle is used and an electrical motor which was used in Yo bikes for power transmission replaced

by paddle cycle. Variables will be added to increase the speed by merging with chain and gear mechanism.




Online Serration System Industrial concept for segregation of any component during running production if any component will be

out of size, it can be easily sorted with the help of PLC programming, limit switches and variable speed

motor with conveyor belt we can segregate components.

Working Sub Station

Each 11KV feeder supplies power in a particular area of the city, where, as per the electrical loading, no of

distribution transformer say 100KVA, 11KV / 440 V 3 phase, 4 wire are installed & supplies power to 3

phase in industries or single phase supply requirement to the consumers, house or office.

Tube light Waste

In a CFL, light produced by the continuous MOBILE ELECTRON and in a SFL , light produced by the

HESTING OF FILAMENL. CFL is costly but SFL is cheaply. But both of them light intensity is same.

Temperature Control

This project consists of thermostat with sense temperature when temperature increase which indicate the

fire taken place some-where. We used shower pump for control temperature.

Automatic Irrigation

In this automatic irrigation system, we are basically depends on soil resistances. With the help of probes we

sense soil resistance, i.e. soil has high resistance when it is dry and has very low resistance when it is wet.

Cultural Night:

28th March ‟14 evening was held a cultural night organized by and for the students of OM Engineering

College and OM Institute of Engineering & Technology.

Students had taken part in different events like Dance (Group as well as Duet), Singing and Drama. The

cultural night was kept open for the students, faculty members and the visitors having come there on

Manifest ‟14.The first performance was ‘Ganesh Stuti’ perform by Vaghani Tushar and group. The dance

was full of spirit and energetic. That was followed by a song sung by a degree student Koriya Komal who

left the audience stunned by her out-standing singing performance. Like this, all the performers‟ one after

the other staged their performance with which the first day of Manifest ‟14 came successfully ended the day

one.
