GTU Tech Fest: Zone 3

Aahvan was organised in the year 2006 by BITS edu campus to give an opportunity

t o s t u d e n t s t o e x p a n d t h e i r t e c h n i c a l h o r i z o n a n d t o a p p l y t h e k n o w l e d g e

obtained from books in practical situations. The initial success of the 2006 technical fiesta

gave a boost to the institution to raise the stakes and host Aahvan on a larger scale in 2008.

Eventually the event became profound and popular. As a part of Aahvan 2012, we

the organizers of GTU Zonal Fest had seen the massive efforts put behind this event.

This year, however, we had a greater responsibility. BITS edu campus in collaboration with

GTU is organizing a zonal level tech fest for the first time. The enthusiasm and excitement is

unprecedented and each member of the team feels immensely excited and proud to present

GTU Techfest – Zone 3

The Zonal Techfest, organised at BITS edu campus, Varnama on the 14

March 2014, witnessed a participation from over 95 reputed colleges of

Vidhyanagar Zone. More than 3800 participants showcased their talent and flair in

47 various technical and non-technical events.

The participation from colleges was as follows:

Engineering Colleges – 30

Diploma Engineering Colleges – 25

Pharmacy Colleges – 20

Management Colleges – 10

Bachelors/Masters of Computer Application – 10

The Techfest also received participation from various non-GTU affiliated universities

like SVNIT, Surat; Nirma University, Ahmedabad; MS University, Vadodara; Charusat

University, etc.

Inaugural Ceremony

After the great success of AAHVAN’ 12, it was now time to usher

the most coveted, awaited and celebrated event of BITS edu

campus GTU Tech Fest: Zone 3. The mega event was inaugurated on

14th march, was witnessed by galaxy of dignitaries, delegates &

invites. The inaugural ceremony was kicked off at central dome in

the campus by the inaugurator Dr. Jayanti S. Ravi, (IAS)

Commissioner in Higher Education (Govt. Of Gujarat). She addressed

the august gathering and young technocrats by her motivational

words and inspired everyone to contribute to develop the nation’s

technical knowledge.

Dr. Ravi also appreciated the huge number of participants present

at various events and wished for the success of the same. Among

other guests who graced the occasion were, Mr. Rohit Sharda,

Site General Manager Bombardier, he took this opportunity to

congratulate the management’s endeavor to discover hidden talent

from every student.

It was an occasion to honour the achievers of various challenging,

Innovative and skills oriented events of the GTU Tech Fest: Zone 3. The central dome was packed with participants eagerly awaiting results of compition. The ceremony began with introduction of guests. Who were heads of various companies, organization such as VCCI, Kemrock, Madhav Group, Inox India,Alembic pharma, ISRO etc. The audience was spellbound by the stellar speech of

Ms. Divya Bhatt, Head Process Cluster,L&T IES, who addressed the youth as “GenZ”. Dr. G. P. Vadodaria Registrar, GTU also appealed

the students to be part of GTU’s initiatives. Winners of more then 40

technical, non technical and management events were awarded nt of recognizing

the true talent of young minds but indeed a small step by BITS edu campus and backed by GTU to recognize these skills and nurture

them.

Cultural Eve

BITS edu campus is full of talented students which bubbles on the surface and ready to explode. The stage was set and the talent was aptly displayed during the cultural evening on 14th march 2014. About hundred students of our institute put together event for an evening of joyous celebration,such as rib tickling comic plays, of heart-warming musical skits on -house band and rhythmic dance performances. There were several dance performances

ranging across many genres – from Indian classical to Indian folk to the

western styles. An in-house band of the institute inaugurated the evening and entertained the audience by performing some of the most popular

songs of recent times. There was also a musical drama on the lives of

students which while being funny was equally touching. The spoof on the popular television show 'Aap Ki Adaalat' was an uproarious affair which left the audience in splits. The evening ended with a dance performance on a medley of current Bollywood hits.

All's well that ends well. GTU Tech Fest: Zone 3 ended with a

blast- literally a confetti blast, as we danced to the music of DJ

Clement D'Souza – one of the top DJs of India. On the evening of

15th march, some 4000 people gathered in BITS edu campus to

tap their feet to the thumping beats of Electronic Dance Music of

DJ Clement of the sunburn fame. The party was a huge success

and many people across the city came to attend.

Blood Donation Camp

At BITS edu campus attention is paid to the development of a student's

value system as much as to his/her academic and co-curricular

development. our social responsibility and being an institute

which is aware and upstanding, we organised blood donation camp

as a part of GTU Tech Fest: Zone 3. Blood donations are crucial for the

survival of thalassemia patients and for saving the lives of victims of a

major tragedy. Students and faculty of BITS edu campus and many

students of various other colleges who came to participate in the

technical festival donated their blood and contributed to this noble

cause.

Celebrating Success of GTU Tech Fest: Zone 3

We created a wonderful team with a number of people with complimentary skills all working towards the success

of Ahvaan. We divided the various tasks meticulously and so success came to us in multiples . As it has been

rightly said by Henry Ford, " If everyone is moving forward together then success takes care of itself".
