When you are asking for information you are making a question. A question mark is the mark at the end of a question.

When you are telling information you are making a statement. A period is the mark at the end of a statement.

When you say something with lots of feeling or emotion you have exclaimed. An exclamation point is the mark at the end of a sentence that shows strong feeling.

Guess Who Board Game

Guess Who is a great board game to practice:● Using receptive language skills. - You will need to carefully listen to what

people say.● Using expressive language skills- You will need to answer questions with

statements. ● Identify different types of punctuation: Did you ask a question? Say “I would

use a question mark.” Did you tell information? Say “I would use a period.” Did you get excited and say something with feeling? Say “I would use an exclamation point.”

Play guess who (or what) with your toys or pictures of people you know.

1. Choose 10 items or pictures of people/ things.2. Lay them out on the floor or table.3. Each player chooses one of the items (don’t tell what) and writes it on a piece of

paper (or you can pre-write all the items down on seperate pieces of paper and the players choose one).

4. Take turns asking questions about the items to figure out what the other person selected. Did you ask a question? Say “I would use a question mark.” Did you tell information? Say “I would use a period.” Did you get excited and say something with feeling? Say “I would use an exclamation point.”

5. Keep taking turn asking and answering questions. The first one to guess the other person’s item/ person wins!
