INTRODUCTION TO U.DANCE DIGITAL

One Dance UK is excited to be working to create an exciting and inclusive digital dance festival programme for young people aged 11 to 19 (up the age of 25 if the dancer has a disability) in 2020.

We want to showcase the best of the UK’s youth dance talent during U.Dance Digital 2020! In these unprecedented times the U.Dance Writing Challenge provides an opportunity to get creative and have your dance writing showcased on a national (digital) stage.

We are inviting young writers who are passionate about dance to take part. Submit a piece of original writing of up to 500 words (not including the title) in one of the following styles:

Review Write a review of a dance performance or film you’ve watched online recently. With so much excellent work being broadcast by One Dance UK member companies and others, there is a lot to choose from.

OR

Essay Write a reflection entitled “What Dance Means to Me”. There are many ways this can be interpreted, for example: How does it feel to dance? How has dance impacted you, your friends, your community? How has dance influenced other aspects of your life?

U.Dance Digital 2020 warmly invites applications from individuals with a disability (up to the age of 25). To discuss making an application, please email [email protected].
