Ductless Fume Hoods
Esco Ascent Ductless Fume Hoods provide protection to
both laboratory personnel and the environment from toxic
fumes.
Esco Ascent Ductless Fume Hoods are
quickly becoming a viable alternative to
conventional fume hoods. Unlike conven-
tional fume hoods, these hoods filter out
chemical fumes and recycle air directly
back to the laboratory, providing energy
savings, personnel and environmental
protection, convenience as you do not
have to deal with complicated ducting
systems, and mobility, since ductless
hoods are independent systems which
do not require connection to extraction
systems.
Esco ductless fume hoods are inde-
pendently tested by INVENT-UK for
the ability to filter contaminated air
with efficiency and retention capac-
ity as required by the British Standard
BS 7989 and French Standard AFNOR
NF X 15-211. Fume containment and
airflow uniformity meet the require-

Laboratory Fume Hoods
The laboratory fume hood is a type of local exhaust ventilation system (engineer-ing control). A typical fume hood is a cabi-net with a moveable front sash (window) made out of safety glass. A properly used and functioning fume hood exhausts haz-ardous gases, dusts, mists, and vapors from a confined location and helps pro-tect workers from inhalation exposure.
Esco fume hoods have been indepen-dently tested by INVENT-UK to pass the American standard ASHRAE 110-1995 and British Standard BS 7258 (deter-mining fume containment capability). They have also been successfully tested for fume containment specified in the European Standard EN 14175-3.

Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) is an
in vitro method of nucleic acid synthe-
sis useful in the detection and analysis
of DNA and RNA in cell and molecular
biology investigations. Through PCR, a
small, unique segment of DNA can be

plified and easily analyzed. Because PCR
