GOAL:Grow Businesses and Create Jobs
OBJECTIVE: The creation, retention and attraction of private sector jobs that benefit the Pierce County economy and local businesses.
ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT• Legislation that positively impacts the local economy
• Regulatory reforms for energy and business improvement areas
TRANSPORTATION• Protect the 2015 Transportation Package
• Local transportation infrastructure and investments
• Commute trip reduction support
HEALTHCARE• Implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA)
• Preservation of Association Health Plans
• Support expansion of behavioral health and rural medical health services
WORKFORCE TRAINING AND EDUCATION• Flexibility of workforce development and job training programs for talent shortages in key
industries
• Innovative learning models like Charter Schools
• Requirements for state support of basic education

In keeping with its mission to improve the quality of life through wise economic development, the Chamber uses its collective voice as well as those of individual Chamber members to advocate for a strong business climate in the region. For us, advocacy includes empowering our members to coordinate their efforts in pursuit of economic goals as well as the Chamber speaking to policymakers and officials on behalf of its members.
