The Bagatti Valsecchi Museum is an house-museum, the result of an extraordinary event collector at the end of Nineteenth Century. The protagonists were two brothers: the barons Fausto (Milan, 1843-1934) and Giuseppe Bagatti Val-secchi (Milan, 1845-1934). After the death of Fausto and Giu-seppe, the Bagatti Valsecchi’s hou-se continued to be inhabited by their heirs until 1974. In that year ,Pasino, one of the son of Giu-seppe, decided to built the Bagatti Valsecchi Foundation, which he donated the heritage of works of art collected by his ancestors.

The Pinacoteca Ambrosiana was established in April 1618, when the cardinal Federico Borromeo donated his collection of paintings, statues and drawings to Biblioteca Ambrosiana, that he founded in 1607.

PINACOTECA AMBROSIANA AND CODEX ATLANTICUS

DIOCESAN MUSEUM

It is born in 2001 as an initiative of Arcidiocesi of Milan with the pur-pose to protect, valorize and make known the art treasures of the bi-shopric in the spiritual realm. Carlo Maria Martini inaugurated it on 7th December 2001. It is collo-cated near cloisters of Sant’Eustor-gio, part of the ancient Dominican convent, returned to the city after a long period of restoration due to the bombings of World War II. Here you can discover the master-pieces from all the diocese. There are a lot of testimonials, paintings and sculptures, for the history of Lombard Art from XVI to XIX cen-tury.

The museum of Scala Theatre is a private museum istitution, hosted in Casino Ricordi, near the Scala Theatre. It preserves a rich collec-tion of costumes, design sketches, letters of composers, portraits, musical autographs and ancient musical instruments.

The collection was intended to do-cument the history of entertain-ment from ancient to contempora-ry times. The museum was inaugu-rated on 8th March 1913.

Among valuable works on display in the museum is present a virginal of XVI century fully decorated. It is

a special kind of spinet, with rec-tangular case and keyboard falling.

MUSEUM OF SCALA THEATRE

TREASURE OF SANT’AMBROGIO

It was established in 1949 to pre-serve, valorize and promote the knowledge of the historical-artistic heritage of Basilica of Sant’Ambro-gio. The museum, at first set above the porch of Bramante (XV centu-ry), is located inside the church. The Basilica of Sant’Ambrogio is considered the second most impor-tant church in the city of Milan. It represents a stronghold town and the Ambrosian Church. It was built in 386 at the behest of Ambrogio, bishop of the city, here buried in 397. The basilica takes its final appearance between 1088 and 1099 when, thanks to bishop Anselmo, is radically reconstructed according to Romanesque architec-

ture diagrams.

Villa Necchi Campiglio is a historic house which is part of the circuit of the "House museum of Milan". It was built between 1932 and 1935 how single-family detached home designed by Piero Portaluppi, one of the best italian architects of that period, it is surrounded by an huge garden with tennis court and pool, the second pool built in Milan after the municipal pool, and the first to be built on private land. SFORZA CASTLE

The construction of a fortification with purely defensive functions was initiated in the second half of the fourteenth century by the Vi-sconti dynasty. The captain Francesco I Sforza started reconstruction in 1450 to make it his residence, after having beaten the Republic and seizing of Milan as husband of Bianca Maria Visconti. During the XX century the castle gets damaged and restored after World War II. During 1990 was built in the castle square a great fountain . The castle hosts many museums.

POLDI PEZZOLI MUSEUM

Gian Giacomo Poldi Pezzoli born in Milan on 27th July 1822. His father Giuseppe in 1818 had inherited the enormous heritage of the family Pezzoli, who had had the contract fees for the Austrian government. The rooms of the house were desi-gned as precious containers of a series of works of ancient art. Gian Giacomo died in 1879 at the age of 57. He had stipulated in his will the legacy of his home and the works of art contained in it to Aca-demy of Brera because it was ma-naged to make it into a real Art Foundation. The administration and manage-ment were entrusted to Bertini,

who officially opened the new mu-seum April 25, 1881.

The Museum of Novecento, housed at Palazzo dell’Arengario on Piazza del Duomo, hosts some 400 works. The Piazza del Duomo is visible from the terrace. The museum is also connected to Palazzo Reale through an outside suspended walkway. The museum tour starts with Quarto Stato by Giuseppe Pel-lizza da Volpedo and continues with works ranging from Futurism, Me-taphysical, Forma 1, Novecento, Abstractism, Informal and Spatia-lism to programmed and kinetic art and Arte Povera. MUSEUM OF NOVECENTO

MUSEUM OF NATURAL HISTORY

The Museum of Natural History Milan is the oldest institution of its kind in Italy. It is housed in a 19th century building located in the Giardini Pubblici, the public park named Indro Montanelli. The Mu-seum of Natural History offers a variety of galleries dedicated to mineralogy, palaeontology, pa-laethnology, zoology of vertebra-tes, entomology, zoology of the invertebrates and botany. Both halls and show windows are con-stantly being updated.

The Risorgimento Museum Milan is located in ancient Palazzo Morig-gia in the area of Brera, the collec-tions include works and antiques from the Napoleonic period to the annexation of Rome by the King-dom of Italy, a specialised library and a key historical archive. RISORGIMENTO MUSEUM

Modern Art Gallery of Milan is lo-cated at Villa Reale, one of Milan’s neoclassical masterpieces, it holds works by Appiani, Canova, Hayez, Segantini, Previati, Rosso and two important collections: the Grassi Collection and the Vismara Collec-tion, with pieces by Balla, Boccioni, Modigliani, Sironi, Manet, Van Gogh and Picasso. The Villa was built between 1790 and 1796 for Count Ludovico Barbiano Bel-giojoso. On the death of the count, the villa was purchased by the Ci-salpine Republic government to transform it in the residence of Napoleon Bonaparte, who was to

become president of the new Ita-lian Republic, of which Milan was the capital. Since 1921 the villa hosts the Milan collections of mo-dern art.

The paintings on the first floor pro-vide an overview of the image of the city of Milan between the 1700s and the early 1900s. Also to be admired at the Palazzo Moran-do gallery and adjacent exhibition halls are a series of costumes taken from various city collections. After the war, following the de-struction during the bombing of the monumental apartments of Palazzo Sormani, headquarters until then the Museum of the city of Milan, it was decided to transfer here the collection of works and

The Aquarium Milan was founded in 1906, it is one of the oldest in the world. The Aquarium Milan and municipal hydro-biological station is housed in a Viennese art nouveau building located in the Sempione park area, which repro-duces the elliptical architecture, not far from the Sforza Castle. It is located adjacent to the Arena Civic. The current structure of the buil-ding and of the tanks the Aquarium Milan is the result of restructuring (2003-2006).

CIVIC AQUARIUM OF MILAN

LAST SUPPER

The Last Supper is a wall painting at tempering fat on plaster of Leonardo da Vinci, datable on 1495 - 1498 and preserve in the ex-convent near the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie in Milan. It is the most famous rapresenta-tion of Last Supper, the masterpie-ce of Leonardo and the Italian Re-naissance. The painting is based on the Go-spel of Giovanni 13:21, where Je-sus announces that he will be betrayed by one of his apostles. He studied the movements of the soul the apostles surprised and disconcerted by the announce-

ment of the impending betrayal by one of them.

The Branca Tower is a building in steel insiede Parco Sempione in Milan. It was projected by Gio Pon-ti. The tower has a truncated pyrami-dal shape with hexagonal section and it is built entirely of steel pipes of Dalmine. Today, a modern lift system at the center of the tower allows the climb on top of covered belvedere to five visitors at a time in 1 minu-te and it is wrapped by a staircase for maintenance and emergency.

The city of Milan is served by 3 airports.

MALPENSA

It is located in the district of Varese, it is the major air-

port of the city. It is 45 km from the city center, conneted

at the center of Milan by a service of buses of Autostrada-

le.

The buses start from 4.30 am to 11.00 pm from Milan and

from 6.00 am to 00.30 am from Malpensa. The buses start

every 20 minutes.

LINATE

It is located in the district of Peschiera Borromeo. It is 7

km from the center of the city, conneted to the city with

the buses of Autostradale.

The buses start from 5.30 am to 10.00 pm, every 30 mi-

nutes.

BERGAMO - ORIO AL SERIO

It is located near Bergamo, it is the aiport dedicated to

flights of low cost airlines. It is 50 km from Milan, conne-

ted to the city with the buses of Autostradale.

The buses start from 2.45 am to 11.15 pm from Milan,

Uber is a company based on San Francisco. It provides a

private car transport service through the mobile appli-

cation software (app) that puts in direct connection pas-

sengers and drivers.

The company is present in many cities in all the world.

The cars can be booked sending a message or using the

app. With the app you can keep real-time track of the

position of the car booked.

The computing system of the cost of the run is similar to

the taxi, calculated according to the distance traveled (if

the speed is greater than 17 km/h), oor by time spent (if

the speed is less than the just mentioned threshold).

The payment is directly from the client to the Uber,

through the credit card.

The price depends from the service offered. There are 6

options:

- UberX: the low cost option, the race is carried out on a

small car

- UberTAXI: the classic taxi Uber version

- UberBLACK: the original option of Uber, the race takes

place on a sedan

- UberSUV: the driver will be at the edge of an SUV.

Italo is the new name with which the private company

Nuovo Trasporto Viaggiatori promote their high-speed

services. It is the first private high-speed train in Italy.

Currently the Italo fleet consists of 25 high-speed trains

ETR 575.

The Italo train are divided in four environments:

The train ticket for Malpensa Express also includes the

shuttle bus connecting Terminal 1 and Terminal 2, which

Each schedule has developed into weekdays, Saturdays

From Monday to Friday the timetable is divided in those

bands:

- Rush hour: 7.00 am to 9.00 am and 5.00 pm to 8.00

pm for the subway lines, and the surface lines.

- Soft hour hour: the remaining hours of the day

On December 25th and on May 1st the service is provi-ded from 7.00 am to 7.30 pm. In the other festivity the service is is guaranteed with normal holiday schedule. The summer schedule will be in place from 9th July to 4th September 2016. From 1st to 28th August 2016 the lines carry out the Saturday schedule in the days from Monday to Saturday and festivity schedule on Sundays and festivity. In case of strike the service takes place in the time of guarantee bands, from the starting of service until 8.45

ry 4-8 minutes, on Saturday every 7-8 minutes

THE PASSING RAILWAY - THE LINES S

The passing railway of Milan is a infrastructure almost

entirely underground that crossing Milan. The suburban

lines make possible a whole new way to move by train.

The lines S connect the hinterland area of Milan and the

city center, through the underground railway and along

railway lines surface.

The passing railway passes every 5-6 minutes.

To access the rail link will we cross the turnstiles.

The passing railway statitons are all equipped with light

panels that provide information about the time of arrival

and destination.

The passing railway is crossed by the suburban lines S1

(Saronno - Lodi), S2 (Camnago - Milano Rogoredo), S5

(Treviglio - Varese), S6 (Novara - Pioltello/Treviglio) and

S13 (Milano Bovisa - Pavia).
