Edmodo is the online educational platform that you will use to download class materials, submit
homework, complete review quizzes, and communicate with your class.
Note: The class materials are only shared digitally while courses are being held online. Please do
NOT share the class materials with anyone else.

1. Accessing your class page
1) Log in to Edmodo (https://new.edmodo.com/login) with your username and
password
2) Click on your class under ‘My Classes’ on the menu on the left
3) On your class page, you can see announcements for your class.
Information and materials posting schedule
Zoom link 4pm the day before your class
Homework Immediately after your class
Review quiz 3pm on Monday of the relevant week (you can do the review quiz before or after your class)
Note: For Advanced and Upper Advanced courses, your teacher will let you know the course material upload schedule in your Week 1 class.

2. Completing review quizzes
1) Click on ‘Take Quiz’
2) Select your answer and click ‘Next’ for each question
3) After answering all questions, click ‘Submit Quiz’

4) After submitting, your grade will be displayed. The quizzes are marked automatically.
5) If you click on ‘Review Quiz’, you can view the correct answer for each
question.

3. Downloading homework
1) Click ‘Open’ on the homework post
2) Click on the arrow and download the file
3) Select where to save your file. We recommend saving to an easy to find location like your desktop, or creating a new folder
for your course materials.

There are 3 ways to complete your homework:
Print out and complete the homework by hand, and then scan/take photos of the completed
homework (skip to 5. Submitting homework)
Type up your answers in a separate word document (skip to 5. Submitting homework)
Use Adobe Reader to fill in your answers (see below)
4. Completing homework with Adobe Reader
If you do not have Adobe Reader installed, you can download it from https://get.adobe.com/reader/
(uncheck the Chrome Extension and optional extras)
1) Open the saved file with Adobe Acrobat Reader DC
2) Click on the ‘Fill and Sign’ icon on the toolbar near the top of the screen
3) A second toolbar should appear; click on the leftmost button to add text.
4) Switch to Japanese input as required. Please see this page for how to enable Japanese input, and see this page for how to type in
Japanese.

5) For multiple choice questions, select the ‘✓’ button and click on your answer
6) When you are done, save the file and add your name to the file name

5. Submitting homework
1) Go back to the homework page on Edmodo and drag and drop the file to the
box to upload it
2) Click ‘Turn in Assignment’ to submit
This will send your work to your teacher privately, and your classmates will not be able to
view it. (Please do not post your homework to the communication board on your class page,
as the posts are public, other students will be able to see your work)
3) Homework answers will be posted to Edmodo together with the following
week’s homework Please check your homework with the provided answers.
4) After your homework has been marked, you can download the corrected file
from the homework page
Please check the homework page one week after submission.

6. Messaging your teacher
If you hand in homework late, we recommend you send your teacher a message to let them know
once you have submitted it, in case your teacher doesn’t notice it.
1) Click on “Messages” at the top of your page
2) Click the blue pencil to compose a new message
3) Start typing your teacher’s name in the “To” field to search for your teacher
4) Type in your message and click send.
