Return on Investment

Although it is impossible to specifi cally determine the return on an artwork, past investments have demonstrated that there are consistent ROIs on artwork, especially when working with an art investment fund specialists. Philip Hoffman, chief executive of London’s Fine Art Fund Group stated that “we generally look for annual net returns of 7% to 12% for our investors…I can confi rm as an example that a Frank Auerbach painting we purchased in 2005 for $1.1 million sold in 2006 for $2.3 million.”

Intrinsic Return on Investment

“Environmental motivators can make or break you,” states Jason Demers, Founder and CEO of AudienceBloom. Demers continues, “including pictures, quotes, and artwork on the walls of an office can inspire creativity and make the office feel like a much more human, organic place to work.”

As demonstrated in the previously mentioned survey, the overwhelming majority of employees want artwork in the workplace – and it’s partially due to the intrinsic effects of art that inspire and motivate employees.

15% Faster

Research has demonstrated a direct link between the working environment and employee satisfaction, productivity, and well-being. One study analyzed the effects of the offi ce environment on staff productivity by placing two groups of employees with an hour’s worth of administrative tasks, one in an offi ce with art and plants and the other in an environment without any additional decoration. The results revealed that employees in the offi ce with art work 15% faster than those in the offi ce without any decoration.
