Guideline on Construction Industry Volunteer Award Scheme 1. Introduction ‧ Volunteering is an altruistic activity where an individual or group provides services for no financial gain to benefit

another person, group or organisation. ‧ Construction Industry Sports and Volunteering Programme (CISVP) has launched the Construction Industry

Volunteer Award Scheme with an aim to recognise contributions from construction practitioners to the community so as to instill a caring culture amongst them, through keeping a record of their volunteer service hours.

2. Volunteer Service Record a) Construction industry practitioners can apply for CISVP membership by:

‧ downloading the CISVP mobile app; or ‧ registering on CISVP website www.cisvp.com; or ‧ completing the registration form at CIC centres, service centres and HKIC campuses.

b) Members can sign up for volunteer activities organised by CISVP through the mobile app, and CIC trainees can sign up through their campus. Event organiser will record member attendance and service hours, and report to CISVP office.

c) Corporate volunteer teams under construction industry organisations could submit service records to CISVP office on behalf of their employees.

3. Awards

CISVP office will record the total service hours submitted by each volunteer team on an annual basis for award selection. Six individual awards and five team awards will be presented:

Awards Selection Criteria

1. Most Outstanding Construction Industry Volunteer

Construction industry volunteer with the highest number of service hours

2. Outstanding CISVP Volunteer Top 10 CISVP registered volunteers with the highest number of service hours

3. Most Outstanding CISVP Volunteer

Top One CISVP registered volunteer with the highest number of service hours

4. Most Outstanding HKIC Trainee Volunteer #

HKIC trainee volunteer (including current trainees and alumni) with the highest number of service hours

5. Most Outstanding CIC Volunteer Team #

CIC volunteer team with the highest number of service hours

6. CISVP Volunteer Recognition ‧ Certificate of Merit 50 hours ‧ Certificate of Merit 80 hours ‧ Certificate of Merit 120 hours

CISVP registered volunteers achieving individual service hours of: 50 service hours or above 80 service hours or above 120 service hours or above

7. Most Active Organisation Construction industry companies or organisations with the highest total number of service hours by their employees

8. Most Active Associate Organisation

Construction industry related companies or organisations with the highest total number of service hours by their employees

9. Award of Merit for first-time participating organisations

Organisations participated in 2018 or before

10. Excellence in Construction Industry Volunteering *

Volunteers nominated by their construction industry employer will be selected by the judging panel for the award to commend their distinguished performance

11. Excellence in Construction Industry Volunteering Project *

The judging panel will select the most excellent volunteer project on a biannual basis

The organiser reserves the right to make the final decision.

# From 2017/2018, students enrolled in the 1-year and 2-year HKIC programmes are required to complete 30 hours of volunteer services and those hours will be counted towards the award scheme.

4. Award Presentation

Results will be announced at the Award Presentation Ceremony to be held on Sunday, 15 July 2018.

5. Volunteer Service Hours

Volunteer service hours are accumulated on an annual basis from 4 April to 31 March in the following year. (For the first year, services hours between 1 November 2016 and 31 March 2018 will be recorded. CISVP accepts all volunteering services verified by the construction industry organisations.

6. Application Procedure

Organisations are required to submit service records of their employees by 30 April 2018 to CISVP office, either by email at [email protected] or by mail to 38/F COS Centre, 56 Tsun Yip Street, Kwun Tong, Kowloon.

* Excellence in Construction Industry Volunteering * Excellence in Construction Industry Volunteering Project 1. Objectives

‧ Recognise contributions from construction practitioners to the community and commend distinguished performances and projects

‧ Elevate the awareness and recognition of the importance of volunteering amongst construction practitioners

‧ Be a role model for the industry and society so as to create social value 2. Entry Criteria

‧ Organisations in the construction industry can nominate any number of employees and projects for the awards. Nominees can also enter as representatives from volunteer teams (including private companies or corporate volunteer teams) for the volunteering award

‧ Nominees need to be Hong Kong residents of any age ‧ Nominees must have participated in volunteer services in person in or outside Hong Kong, and have

actively promoted volunteerism during the year. Volunteering projects can take place in or outside Hong Kong

‧ Nominees must have participated in volunteer services during the specified period. Accreditation of services hours must be endorsed by a recognised local non-profit organisation or body.

3. Selection Criteria

Purpose ‧ Purpose of service, innovation and continuity ‧ Use of resources, service outcomes and sustainable development

Enthusiasm (Volunteers)

‧ Commitment to volunteer work, mission oriented, sense of involvement, initiative and motivation

‧ Teamwork, positive impact on others and ongoing participation

Impact ‧ Support and impact to society and beneficiaries ‧ Efforts and ability to influence and mobilise others' participation in

volunteer work ‧ Teamwork with partners and staff ‧ Learnings, experience and reflection from volunteer work

Service hours

‧ Number of services and service hours ‧ Total number of service hours

4. Nominators

‧ Any company or organisation operated in the construction industry in Hong Kong can be nominators. ‧ Each nominator can make more than one nomination for volunteers and volunteering projects.

5. Judging Panel

CISVP will invite a panel of distinguished judges for award selection to elevate recognition of the awards as well as to impartially select outstanding volunteers and projects in the construction industry.
