Annealing Process, known Service providers
• Goltens, long experience of mobile machining & in-situe repairs.
Successfully annealed over 75 crankshafts In-Situ and in workshops, during the past 7 years.
• Wärtsilä, long experience of mobile machining & in-situe repairs.
Successfully annealed more than 50 crankshafts In-Situ and in workshops, during the past 7 years.
Have also evaluated induction heating (spot heating).

Status and next steps
Heat Treatment in situ in our opinion reliable proven as to be the favourable repair method.
The Class approval for Goltens repair procedure a good step ahead.
Next, approval from other IACS members
Find time to continue with the guidlines (less skiing)
Low inflow of applicable cases, 2 cases reported in 2 years....has crankshaft failures ended ??
