Preface

What is the purpose of these guidelines?These guidelines have been developed together with HOFER KG to ensure a consistent look for the country coding of transport units.

Please note!All final artwork must be approved by HOFER KG.

ADVICE: From now on, these guidelines do NOT apply to transport boxes. For transport boxes the ALDI Global Shipping Label Guideline is to be considered.

In order to clearly identify which countries a product is being sold in, country coding needs to be placed on the retail boxes and display cases of non-food specials. This country coding must be clearly visible for the logistics providers handling the goods. For this reason, each packaging unit needs to be coded.

Retail boxesIn the case of retail boxes (packaging used for the retail unit) that are transported directly – without a transport box – the country coding needs to be integrated into the retail box’s layout in the form of a logo (see below). The logo must be placed on at least three sides of the packaging in such a way that the country coding is clearly visible when the goods are stacked on a pallet. The logo must never be placed on the base of the packaging. On display cases which are used to present the goods in store, the same coding must be applied to at least two sides.

Individually packed, large appliances This labelling also needs to be applied to at least two sides of of a retail unit such as an individually packaged large appliance (e.g. washing machine).

The logo for the country coding on retail boxes and display cases is available in two versions – colour and black and white. On multi-coloured retail boxes, only the colour version must be used.

The country identifier ellipses and country flags in the logos indicate the respective countries in which the product will be sold. The sequence of countries shown below (AT/CH/ IT/HU/SI) must be adhered to at all times. The respective country identifier ellipse corresponds to the flag positioned beneath it. The icon of the transport vehicle in the top section always remains the same. The country flags are not featured on the black and white version of the logo.

On retail boxes, the colour logo must appear on at least three sides of the box with a minimum height of 30 mm. The minimum height of the black and white logo is 24 mm. The width of the logos can vary depending on the number of country identifier ellipses.

The different logo options and some examples of use are shown on the following pages. Artwork of all logo options is shown on page 10-11 and can be found in the guidelines data package.

The width of the logo can vary depending on the number of country identifier ellipses and flags featured. The logo options shown below can be adapted for every combination of countries and each individual country of sale.

The country coding logo must appear on at least three sides of the box. It is placed in the lower right-hand area and must be integrated as harmoniously as possible into the overall design. In individual cases where this is not possible, an alternative placement must be agreed on in consultation with HOFER KG Corporate Buying. The minimum height of the logo must be observed at all times.
