“Educating and caring for the whole child”
The weeks seem to be going by very quickly as we
rapidly approach the end of year and the staff are
looking forward to the celebratory events planned at
Guise Public School over the coming weeks.
Guise Has Got Talent!
On Wednesday last week, some very talented students
participated in our annual ‘Guise Has Got Talent’ Talent
Quest. We had a variety of performances, from
skipping to impersonations, to some awesome singers
and dancers. All the performers did a wonderful job
and should be very proud of themselves. The winners
on the day were:
First: Girls Dance Group featuring Paris, Lisita,
Jenna, Kisa, Amy and Petrice.
Second: The awesome impersonations of Tobias
Third: Maycie singing ‘This is ME’
Congratulations to the winners and to all the students
who rehearsed and put an act together for the talent
quest and participated on the day.

PSSA Zone Sports Presentation
On 3 September, Jenara W represented Guise Public
School at the Zone Athletics Carnival at Campbelltown
Sports Stadium, where she placed 2nd in the 100m sprint.
On 19 September, she progressed to the next level and
represented Guise Public School at the Sydney South
West Area Athletics Carnival, where she competed in the
100m race. Last Tuesday, Jenara attended the PSSA
Sports Presentation night at Ingleburn High School and
was acknowledged for all her effort by receiving a
certificate for representing the Fields at Zone
Athletics. Congratulations on your fantastic achievement,
Jenara, we are all very proud of you!
School Canteen in 2019 In 2019, the Guise Public School Canteen will reduce its
operating hours, as per the note sent out this week to all
families. The Canteen will operate on Tuesdays,
Wednesdays and Thursdays.
The Canteen was put out to tender earlier this year and
unfortunately, there were no tenders received. In order
for us to continue providing this service to our students,
we need to reduce the days the Canteen is available from
next year.
On Mondays and Fridays, when the canteen is NOT open,
parents/carers will need to ensure children have a packed
lunch and recess. There will be no orders or over the
counter purchases available on these days.
Uniforms
As the end of year approaches and with the expectation
that all students come each day in full school uniform, I
ask all parents/carers to take stock and check that they
have enough items to start the new 2019 school year.
Uniforms are available for purchase from the school
office upon request. Payment can be made by cash,
EFTPOS or online payment on our school website.
There will also be 2 days in the school holidays that
parents may come into the school office to purchase
uniforms. These dates are as listed below:
Wednesday 23rd January 2019
Thursday 24th January 2019
Uniforms will be available for purchase from 12:00pm –
2:00pm on each of these days.
Part of the school uniform is the wearing of black school
shoes and we would like all students to start next year in
black shoes. All students need to wear a Guise PS School
Hat in the playground. When buying socks the colour is
white for girls and navy blue for boys.
2019 Classes As mentioned in the last newsletter, to help with the
organisation of class formations and planning for next
year, could you please notify the school office as soon as
possible if you know your child/children will not be
attending Guise PS due to changes in circumstances or
family moves.
Have a wonderful week!

Mei-Ling is a respectful and kind student
who always listens to others and
communicates in a possitive way. She
shows great sportsmanship and allows all of
her peers to feel safe and valued. Mei-Ling
shows extreme tolerances to all around her
in every situation. She has been a vauled
member of our school and will be missed
dearly next year.

Lakem has grown in confidence this
semester. She is beginning to take risks in her
learning, which has become evident in her
growing confidence in reading, writing and
numeracy. Lakem attempts every
classroom activity with enthusiasm and is
always willing to lend a hand to students
and teachers. She has begun to speak
clearly and joins in on class discussions more
frequently. It has been a pleasure to watch
her grow into a confident, risk-taking
learner. Well done, Lakem!

Lornajean displays a high level of
organisation when attending Learning
Boosts. She is always the first student ready
to commence the lesson. Lornajean brings
all equipment needed with her and this
enables her to complete tasks without
unnecessary interruptions. During reading
support, she is able to assist in setting her
own learning goals and works tirelessly to
achieve them. Throughout this term, she has
demonstrated tremendous growth in
reading and this can be attributed to her
hard work and fantastic organisational skills.
Well done, Lornajean.

This term the students of 1/2B are
investigating ways to solve mathematical
problems. The problems are extremely
challenging and require an enormous
amount of persistence to solve. During a
mathematical number talk, Ellamia
continued to apply a number of strategies
to problem solve until she was successful.
She has shown persistence even when the
work has been challenging at times and I
encourage her to continue to work hard
and never give up!

Throughout the semester, Alex has
demonstrated an enthusiastic approach to
all aspects of learning. He consistently tries
to do the best job that he can and puts in
100% effort. Alex aims high, but realises that
if the outcome is not perfect, he can listen
to feedback and retry. He demonstrates
helpful and positive thinking skills and has
shown greater personal strength to cope
with challenges. Alex shows genuine care
and concern for his friends and tries his best
to maintain healthy friendships. Well done,
Alex.
