GUITAR PICKUPS WITH A DIFFERENCE

ABOUT

Back in the late 80's I worked as a design engineer in the R&D labs of a large German electronics company. Having many facilities at my disposal, I wound

some pickups in my spare time and took them to some colleagues who worked in the music industry. They were astounded at the results and quickly had me rewinding and fixing pickups in guitars for which no direct replacements were available. At the time, the replacement pickup industry was limited to horrible

sounding super high output mudbuckers and some single coils.

Winding continued for a few years until I got swallowed up in the corporate madness of the 90's.

Having left all that behind me some years ago and now working for myself in the

guitar industry, I decided to revisit pickup winding again after the long hiatus.

I built my own winder and sourced components and started winding, initially by hand feeding wire onto bobbins as i once did on the labs many years before. The results were very good, however I could not get consistent results hand feeding

wire onto bobbins.

I decided to invest in a customised automatic winding machine made to my specs, had various jigs made, and invested in much test equipment. The aim

was to characterise pickups and finding ways of designing tone and dynamics into a pickup, way before I even put the bobbin on the winder. And get

repeatable results.

After many trials and errors, many feet of wire, and further investment in tools and gear, I finally had my own tools, formulas and methods for getting the tones

I was looking for in a guitar pickup.

I do not claim to have magic materials, wire or magnets. I source all my components from reputable sources who can supply consistently high quality

materials.

Like yourself, I am a guitar player, forever searching for that elusive magic tone from my guitars and gear. Any pickup I sell I stand behind 100% and have

extensively tested on the own guitars, with my band, or with other musician colleagues. My pickups will continue to evolve and improve with time, with both

new models and also improvements on the existing ones.

I know you will love my pickups as much as I do, and as much as many guitarists have already discovered.
