The course started with registration and refreshment at 9:00 am., all the participants were provided the printed course material, along with kit. Total 113 registered pharmacists were participated. The inauguration function started with introduction and welcome of guests by Dr. Dharmesh K. Golwala, Dean of Faculty of Pharmaceutical Sciences. Guests were felicitated after lightening the lamp. Shri Mahesh S. Vekaria (Executive Committee Member of GSPC) was the chief guest. Shri Mahesh S. Vekaria explained about the need of refresher course. He also informed about new website of GSPC. Mr. Himanshu Khatri, Sr. Drug Inspector, Surendranagar, Mr. Alpesh Patel, Drug Inspector, Surendranagar, Mr. Ashish Baseta, Drug Inspector, Surendranagar and Mr. Sanket Parekh (Managing Director, Olcare Laboratories) were guest of honor of inauguration function. Dr. Nishant Oza delivered his speech regarding the government for effective implementation of rules for recruitment of registered pharmacists. Mr. Himanshu Khatri (Sr. Drug Inspector, Surendranagar) had delivered a lecture on Drugs & Cosmetics Act and Rules; he discussed different offences and penalties giving suitable examples. Second lecture was delivered by Mr. Alpesh Patel (Drug Inspector, Surendranagar) on Drugs Magic Remedies Act.

He explained regarding the act to control the advertisement of drugs in certain cases, to prohibit the advertisement for certain purposes of remedies alleged to possess magic qualities and to provide for matters connected therewith. After lunch the third lecture of day was delivered by Mr. Ashish Baseta (Drug Inspector, Surendranagar) on Good Storage Practice. He nicely discussed the commonly used medicine to be stored at specific temperature. The fourth lecture of day was delivered by Mr. Uday Raval (Ex-Product Manager, Leo Life Sciences) on Self Medication and its demerits. He gave details of some commonly used medicines for self medication and their pros and cons.
After breakfast the morning session started with a lecture by Mr. Parth Mair (Que Pharma, Wadhwan) on Bioavailability of Drugs. He focused on various heading such as drug-drug interaction, drug- food interaction, adverse drug reactions commonly found in India. Second lecture was delivered by Dr. D. K. Golwala (Principal, C. U. Shah College of Pharmacy & Research, Wadhwan) on Pharmacy Practice Regulation 2015. He discussed about its objectives and important provisions of Pharmacy Practice Regulation 2015 including various chapters. The third lecture of day was delivered by Mr. Sanket Parekh (Managing Director, Olcare Laboratory, Surendranagar) gave informative lecture on Drugs Prices Control Order. He talked about its objectives, price list, whole sale price, retail price and their calculation. He also told us regarding drugs which come under this schedule.
Objective test was conducted at 2:30 pm. Valedictory function was scheduled, Dr. Ved Vyas Dwivedi, Provost of C.U. Shah University, Wadhwan; presided the function as Chief Guest. Dr. Girish Goswami, Dean of Sciences, Wadhwan was Guest of Honor. Dr. Nishant A. Oza, Associate Professor, C. U. Shah College of Pharmacy & Research, Wadhwan introduced the guests. Guests were facilitated by staff members. Finally, Dr. D. K. Golwala concluded the course with vote of thanks. GSPC Refresher course certificate were distributed to all the participants.
