Atmiya Institute of Technology & Science
Atmiya Institute Of Technology & Science (ATMIYA)-Sarvodaya Kelavani Samaj, Rajkot is
an arm of Yogi Divine Society, Haridham, Sokhada near Baroda. It is essentially engaged in
promoting cultural, religious and moral values among the youth through education and social
activities in Saurashtra and Kutch. As a prelude to achieving this Aim, H.H. Swami
Hariprasadji, who is the mentor and sheet anchor of this pious movement, has laid stress on
high moral character and preservation of divine culture that we have inherited. His emphasis
on these values is to be reflected in the social work, up liftmen of the poor, downtrodden and
ill-fated masses living miserable lives. To reflect these noble ideals into reality he has chosen
education as the best instrument. ATMIYA INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY & SCIENCE
is started to fulfill this goal.
ATELIER Project Activity
Activity-based TEam Learning for Innovative EngineeRs (ATELIER) is designed to initiate a
program, which encourages colleges to start developing methodologies for bootstrapping the
distributed talents of some of their students to develop a program for strengthening the soft
skills of all their students. ATELIER is designed to develop teamspirit, team learning and
bring transformation in the students by providing platform to brush up and sharpen their
linguistic skills. The main objective of ATELIER is to develop and improve the soft skills of
students, to make them capable enough to stand in market by expressing themselves.
Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing are the areas to be focused.

A set of activities namely group-discussion and extempore were conducted for the juniors. In
this activity 12 students had participated from two sections of 4th
semester Computer
Engineering. The activity was conducted on 9th
of April 2016. The judges of honor were Miss
Harsha Satramani and Miss Shivangi Oza. First activity was Group discussion in which
students were divided in teams of two i.e. 6 participants each. The topic of discussion was
given by given by judges and the topic was “Is social networking productive or not?”.Time
span of 5 minutes was allocated for the discussion before a time of 2 minutes was allocated
for the content preparation. The teams could be seen actually fighting. Amongst those 12 top
6 were selected who completed in next round i.e. extempore. Here also topics were decided
by the judges and the topics were.
1. Technology in educational institutions
2. Fashion
3. Fast Food
4. Teachers
5. Youth
6. Photography
For second activity each of the participants was permitted to speak only for 2 minutes.
Amongst these 6 top were selected and declared as winners.
Upshots of the Activity
The participants were awesome. They had themselves volunteered which already makes them
winner. But as a matter of fact that nobody is perfect. Everybody needs improvement and so
was true with my participants. Few of them lacked the confidence that is actually needed on
stage. Therefore, when they had to stand on stage and express themselves they did get
nervous. Some were fabulous. Those who lacked it were given guidance and motivation by
the judges. After the event was over they approached me and thanked me for organizing an
activity like this. They even asked to organize more activities like this. In simple words they
improved a bit on their confidence and even strengthened the spirit of participation.
