1 BP is expected to begin making annual payments in mid-2017 through mid-2031 pursuant to a consent decree entered on April 4, 2016 under the Federal Water Pollution Control Act, of which 80% of the total will be deposited into the Gulf Coast Restoration Trust Fund and invested. The estimated deposits total $4.4 billion plus penalty interest scheduled for payment in 2032.
