Without these contributions and the hard working Show Committee, the show as we know it, would not go on. This year’s program kicks off on Friday with mainly show jumping. Please note that entry to the showgrounds on Friday is FREE. Saturday will be a day of fun filled family activities comprising Noahs Racing Pigs with five or six races – nominate for a sweep in each race and the winner will receive $30 vouchers/cash to spend in sideshow alley. There will also be the usual events such as Cattle, Horses, Poultry, Pavilion Exhibits, Yard dogs and Sheep Dog Trials, Cattle Dog Trials, Birds, Animal Nursery, Reptile park, Magician, Face painting, Cartoon portraits, Puppet theatre (roving), Stalls, Vintage cars, Sideshow alleys and Show Bags. Show dogs return, check them out just inside the main showgrounds gate. Showjumping remains very strong with some of the best riders in Australia competing. The Annual Show showcases our district and beyond, and we continue to see the very best agricultural exhibits and Community displays on offer. We are proud of our Annual Show and Community Spirit it generates. The show would not survive without the local community and the generous support from our Members, Sponsors and advertisers. RULES AND REGULATIONS

1. Entry forms, in duplicate and FEES must be in the hands of the Secretary not later than 14 February 2018. Late entries will be charged for at double rate. 2. No exhibit shall be removed before 4.30 p.m. on second day of the Show without the sanction of the Chief Pavilion Stewards in each section. 3. When the Judges are of the opinion that an exhibit is unworthy of a first prize, or unworthy of a prize at all, an award may be made in accordance with that decision. 4. The Stewards may, if they think fit, require any exhibitor to make a statutory declaration that his or her exhibit fills all the required conditions in the schedule for prizes competed for. 5. No tents, booths or hawkers will be allowed on the ground without permission of the Secretary or the Ground Space Stewards. 6. Exhibitors will be held responsible for any damage that may be done by any exhibit, and the Association reserves the right of refusing to admit any exhibit into the ground where there is reason to suspect it is either diseased or dangerous, or of removing such exhibit from the ground. 7. Three entries or no prize, except where the judges consider exhibits specially deserving. 8. All protests must be delivered to the Secretary not later than one hour after the running of the event, after which no protest will be entered, and such protest must be decided by the Protest Committee. Protests must be accompanied by a fee of $11, which will be forfeited at the discretion of the Committee if they are considered frivolous. 9. All stock, poultry and dogs must be the bona-fide property of the exhibitor. All farm produce must be the production of the exhibitor. 10. The Society does not hold itself responsible for the safe custody of exhibits, nor for any accident injury that may occur to any exhibit. 11. “District’’ means a radius of 50 kilometres of Gundagai. 12. In trotting and other competitions, the judge’s decision to be final. 13. In the event of exhibitors in either the horse or cattle sections failing to parade, the winner of either a first or second prize, when so asked, shall thereby forfeit their prizemoney. 14. In the case of cattle exhibits their ages will be calculated as on March 1. 15. ALL COMPETITORS COMPETE AT THEIR OWN RISK.

REGULATIONS FOR THE GUIDANCE OF STEWARDS AND JUDGES

STEWARDS 1. All Stewards must be in attendance on the Showground at 9 a.m. First Day of Show to receive exhibits. 2. Stewards will be expected to see that the exhibits are properly classed, and that all exhibits in each class are placed together ready for judging. 3. Stewards will obtain the Judge’s Book from the Secretary, and deliver the same to the Judges and direct them to the exhibits they are appointed to judge. 4. Stewards will remove all the exhibitors, and others, from the vicinity of the Judges while judging. 5. Stewards will attend to the Judges to afford them any information required, but must not do or say anything to influence their decision. They will not reveal the name of any exhibitor or repeat any remark the Judges may make to each other. 6. Stewards shall obtain the Judge’s Book from the Judge when filled up and signed, and deliver same to the Secretary.

7. Stewards will obtain the Prize Cards from the Secretary, and affix them to the exhibits as soon as practicable.

8. Stewards will report to the Secretary any disobedience to their orders, or disorderly conduct on the part of exhibitors or those in charge of exhibits. JUDGES 9. Judges will attend on the Show Ground at the hour appointed, and report themselves to the Secretary and to the stewards of the respective classes, but shall not proceed to inspect the exhibits until it is intimated to them that all arrangements preparatory to their proceeding to view the exhibits are completed. 10. The Judges shall, in the case of livestock, decide on the merits of each animal as it stands, without

reference to pedigree or the name or place of the exhibitor or breeder, and they shall exclude from their consideration any animal which in their opinion does not come within the class for which it is entered for competition, but should they have doubts as to the age or breeding of the exhibits, they shall call upon the exhibitor to satisfy them that the animal has been properly entered.

11. The Judges will not only enter in their report those exhibits entitled to the premiums, but also the others in each class which they consider most worthy of note. 12. Having formed his/her opinion, the Judge shall sign and deliver their report to the Stewards in charge, and having done so, not afterwards propose any change. When the signed report shall have been delivered over to the Steward, the duties of the Judge shall cease. 13. In cases of close competition, the Judge shall be allowed to divide first prize and shall report the same.

14. The Judge may award a second or third prize instead of a first one, or may withhold a prize altogether where there is only one exhibit, or where the exhibits are not considered worthy. 15. No Judge shall be an exhibitor in the department in which he may be judge. 16. The decision of the Judge shall be final, and without appeal. 17. Prize winners should obtain vouchers from Stewards to collect prize money from the Secretary’s Office during the Show. 18. Judges may award special prizes for highly commended, best exhibit and runner-up, etc.

1. Entries to be emailed by Wed 14th Feb 2018 to: [email protected]. 2. The age of cattle to be calculated up to and inclusive March 1st. Entry form MUST show date of birth. 3. Cattle entered in open class must be registered in a recognised Herd Book and/or Recorded Progeny. 4. Cattle entered in Stall Fed Steer section to be led out and judged and must have snap or ring in nose. If

not led, will not be judged. 5. 4. All cattle to be on the ground by 8.30 a.m. on the second day of the Show.

6. JUDGING WILL START AT 8.30 A.M. SHARP

7. First and second awards to consist of ribbons only if the animals, in the opinion of the judge, be worthy

of a prize. 8. The exhibitor enters entirely at his own risk. The Society, Judge or Stewards shall not be responsible

for any loss, death or injury to any animals or equipment. 9. BJD tested cattle will be stalled separately. 10. Stewards reserve the right to split any class if numbers allow. 11. SECTION GP – SCHOOL’S SHOW PARADER COMPETITION

HEAD STEWARD: DALE CHADWICK This competition is restricted to students from Years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11/12 who are currently enrolled at the following: Batlow Central School, Gundagai High School, Tumut High School. There is NO Entry fee for the school’s show paraders competition. Students must enter the “Years’’ competition for which they are presently enrolled in at their school. Entrants can only participate once in the competition. Student winners from Years 8, 9, 10 & 11/12 must be present for the final. Substitution is not permitted. All entrants must wear a white coat and carry a Parader’s cane. Hat are optional but if worn must be in the ‘Akubra’ style. Any animal used in the competition can be used in the final. Entrants can loan animals to, or borrow animals from, other schools so that all entrants have fair opportunity in the competition. There is no restriction on the type or age of animal that entrant’s exhibit. Animals must be suitably restrained at all times in line with the show’s Cattle Section requirements. All animals must be led by the entrant. THE COMPETITION: Sections: The competition consists of five sections: Section 1 - Year 7 Show Paraders Section 2 - Year 8 Show Paraders Section 3 - Year 9 Show Paraders Section 4 – Year 10 Show Paraders Section 5 – Year 11/12 Show Paraders Each section will consist of a number of rounds. Each round may have up to six entrants. The number of students from each school in the rounds will be determined by the Chief Steward in combinations that assists with the smooth running of the event. There is no restriction on the number of rounds in each section. The Champion Parader of Year 7 will be determined by the highest score gained by an individual. A count back based on criteria from the rounds will be used as a tie breaker for each age group. Finals: There will be 2 finals. Senior Final: consisting of the first and second place from Years 10 and 11/12 from each school. Entrants in this final will compete for the title of ‘Senior School Parader of the Show’. Junior Final: consisting of the first and second place from Years 8 and 9 from each school. Entrants in this final will compete for the title of ‘Junior School Parader of the Show’. Highest scoring student from these finals will be awarded ‘Champion School Parader of the Show’ perpetual trophy along with a personal trophy. The second highest score will be awarded ‘Reserve Champion School Parader of the Show’ Entrants in the competition will be judged on general knowledge of beef cattle; handling/knowledge of the animal; personal presentation. Points will be awarded for each entrant on each of the above items. These points will be tallied from both sections at the end of the competition and averaged. The school with the greatest average will be declared “The Parader School of the Show’’. All variations from and anomalies to the rules will be adjudicated upon by the Chief Steward in consultation with a supervising teacher from each school present. CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

All photographs must be submitted in digital format of no less than 2MB. Photographs must be taken within the Gundagai area. Photos that include people must be submitted with a copy of the attached permission to print form. Cootamundra-Gundagai Regional Council reserves the right to use any photographs submitted in local promotional material or online, or to provide them to other organisations. By submitting images you also agree that your name may be revealed in descriptive text or commentary in connection with the image(s). The judge’s decision is final.

ENTRY INSTRUCTIONS

Photographs must be submitted via email to [email protected] (max file size per email 10MB) and the entrance fee of $5 per photograph paid to the Gundagai Visitor Information Centre by 12 noon on Wednesday 14th February before the show dates 16-17 February 2018. The Gundagai Visitor Information Centre will print and back the photographs ready for display.
