GUNDECHA EDUCATION ACADEMY PROJECT/ASSIGNMENT GUIDELINES-AY 2016-2017 STD 2 GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS Dear Students, On receiving the project guidelines, you only need to collect information and material about it. The Presentation of the project will be done on the project sheets that were given to you with your notebooks. Work done by hand only will be accepted. Coloured photocopies & computer prints are NOT allowed. No additional marks for such things are given. Please do NOT cut encyclopedias, dictionaries and atlases. Pictures taken from newspapers and magazines will be appreciated. Label the pictures. Write your Name, STD, Division and Roll No. The Projects will be collected by the teacher every day. After they are corrected you will be given all the projects back. File all the projects in the spring file given from the school once they are corrected and returned. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Parents, OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECTS/ASSIGNMENTS: To develop skills in collection; collating and use of data / facts. To develop the ability to present information with the help of appropriate diagrams/maps/sketches etc. To enhance the understanding of how and why things/events happen To help students identify ways and means of preventing specific occurrences. To familiarize the students with various terminology. To enable students to express their views and opinions giving valid statistics. To practice written expression in the form of stories. To familiarize and practice formats of writing tasks. Other objectives include: stimulating creativity and imagination; create an awareness; analyse a given situation; to gather information that acts as a support in understanding the topics in the syllabus etc. Please note that all the students who may be representing school, sick or absent during the project week will be allowed to do their missed project/s on Feb,18 2017 i.e. Saturday from 9:00am to 12:30pm. However there will be no bus facility. Kindly send enough food and water with your child.

SUBJECT: ENGLISH STD: 2 DATE: 6th Feb 2017 PROJECT TITLE: WRITE YOUR STORY /MATERIALS REQUIRED: QUANTITY Satin ribbon 1m Glue stick 1 Pictures of the selected story INSTRUCTIONS: Select a story of your choice which has minimum two characters. Name of the reference book: Panchatantra tales [Any story] Note: 1. Read any one story from the Panchatantra Tales. 2. Make a cover page for your story. 3. Materials like a pair scissors (small), pencil, colours, pictures, written information must be brought to school. 4. Presentation of the project must be done in school. PRESENTATION OF THE PROJECT: Page 1: Name of the story and its main characters. Page 2 & 3 : Write the story selected by you in brief in your own words and stick the pictures.

Page 4: Describe the character in the story you like the most and why? (few examples given below)

Page 7 : Write what do you know about your favourite charater from the story.

Page 8 : Write the moral value of the story.

SUBJECT : EVS STD : II DATE: 9th Feb 2017 PROJECT TITLE : KNOWING ABOUT SOLAR SYSTEM MATERIALS REQUIRED: QUANTITY Glue stick 1 Satin Ribbon 1m Colour box 1 Pictures - Sun, moon, stars and planets Note :

1. The students are required to do reference work and note the same in their rough note book and bring it on the day of the project.

2. Materials like a pair of scissors (small), pencil, colours, pictures, written information must be brought to school.

3. Presentation of the project must be done in school. PRESENTATION OF THE PROJECT: Page 1: Stick/Draw pictures of the Sun, moon and stars and write one special characteristic about each.

Page 2: Stick the pictures of eight planets in the correct order of their distance from the Sun and label them.

Page 3 & 4 : Write one characteristic of each planet. One example of how you can present this activity :

Page 5 : Become a Planet of your choice. Stick a picture of any one planet of your choice and make a worksheet like the one given below: Use describing words to describe the Planet.

Page 6 : Select any 2 planets and write the following about it. You may use some of the help words given below:

STD II MATHS PROJECT DATE : 8th Feb 2017

PROJECT TITLE: FUN WITH NUMBERS AND SHAPES MATERIALS REQUIRED: QUANTITY Glue stick 1 Fevicol tube 1 Crayons Note : Materials like a pair of scissors (small), pencil, colours, pictures, written information must be brought to school.

The students are required to do reference work & note the same in their rough notebook and bring on the day of the project.

The presentation of the project must be done in school. You can bring a picture of the activity given for page no 3 for reference.

Page 1: “Math about me” – 1)Write the following information about yourself- a) Number of letters in your first name.Number of letters in your last name. 2) Your birth day 3) Your age 4) Number of people in your family 5) Phone number of any one of the parent. 6) Number of teeth you lost so far.

Page 2: “Shapey Doodles” - Make a border on the project sheet by drawing different planar shapes using crayons. In the centre of the sheet draw each of 3D shapes with a smiley.
