Editor’s voice : During the month of January Guntakal Municipality is implementing
schemes for development of the town. We are working on activities such as
Swachh Survekshan-2017, Happy Sunday Event, Poster Free Town and we
are also implementing the state and central government schemes such as
Implementation of Housing for all, Go-No 279 on Solid Waste Management
and AMRUT.
The Union Ministry of Urban Development launched Swachh
Survekshan 2017 to rank 500 cities/towns across the country on
cleanliness with a population of 1 lakh and above. The survey will be
conducted by Quality Council of India (QCI) under the Swacch Bharat
Abhiyan in a bid to encourage competition to improve sanitation. The QCI
survey team has visited Guntakal Municipality, monitored and conducted
survey from 30th to 31st January 2017.
Happy Sunday Event was conducted on 29.01.2017 at Weekly Market
road, The vision is to encourage people to congregate and develop living
streets — streets that encourage pedestrians, cyclists and other NMT
modes. On this day, predefined roads are blocked so that people can regain
ownership of the streets. The end goal is to help build safer, happier,
healthier and more sustainable cities where ownership of making cities
sustainable on citizens.

i. Janmabhoomi Maa Ooru Program:
The Government of Andhra Pradesh has launched a people centred development and welfare outreach programme called “Janmabhoomi – Maa Vooru” in the month of October, 2014, and has since conducted three rounds of Janmabhoomi Programme. As the next phase, the 4th Round of Janmabhoomi Maa Vooru (JBMV) programme has been conducted from 2nd to 11th January, 2017 in all 37 election wards in the Municipality. During the program awareness is created on digital literacy and Puraseva application among the public. A total 6200 applications has been received in all categories such as Pensions, Housing, Ration cards, Individual Household Toilets, Tap House Service connections, voters, Gas connections etc.,

ii. Engineering Works: Under 13th Finance Commission CC Roads, Storm Water Drainage
and Watersupply works are under progress. Which are taken up with a total cost of Rs.2.62 Crores.

iii. Online Building permissions Online building approval systems which has been started from
31st March 2016, up to November 2016, we have 254 received
building applications, 189 applications got approved till January
2016. Revenue collected on building approvals for the month of
January is Rs.11,15,177 in the Guntakal town.

iv. Swachh Survekshan 2017
In order to foster a healthy competition between cities, the
Ministry of Urban Development (MoUD) started the “Swachh
Sarvekshan” survey in 2016 which rated 73 cities across the country.
Following the same, the MoUD has issued guidelines for “Swachh
Sarvekshan” 2017 which will conduct a survey to rank 500 cities (having
a population of 1 lakh and above). The components covered in this
survey are:
• Solid Waste Management (SWM) including road sweeping,
municipal solid waste from residential, commercial areas and from
construction & demolition waste.
• Individual, community and public toilets
• Open defecation free city/town strategy
• Information, education and behaviour change communication
(IEBC) strategy, and
• ICT based system to enhance Urban Local Body (ULB)
operations.
The QCI survey team has visited Guntakal Municipality, monitored and
conducted survey from 30th to 31st January.

Swachh Survekshan 2017 – QCI Team inspection
AMRUT (State Annual Action Plan) 2015-16:
Under AMRUT scheme Water Supply tenders are received for 14.68
Crores and forwarded to Chief Engineer for finalization of bidder.
AMRUT (State Annual Action Plan) 2016-20:
Under AMRUT SAAP 2016-20 Water Supply, Children Park and Sewage
Treatment Plant (STP) works are proposed.
TEC team, PDMC (TCE) and SE (PH) Anantapur visited on January 9th
2017 to review the Water supply DPR and key fidings are noted and
suggested required changes to be done in the DPR.

i. IHHT’s:
Under Swachh Bharat Mission,
Guntakal Municipal Commissioner
has sanctioned Individual Household
Toilets (IHHTs) for 22249
Households, by 31st January 2017
construction of 2163 Nos IHHTs is
completed. Percentage of achievement is 96%.

the Old Age, Widow, Physically
Handicapped, Weavers and
eligible beneficiaries under
Abhaya Hastham are issuing
through Biometric system to
reduce malpractices, during
the 1st week of every month.
During the month of January
2017, total of 8714 pensions are distributed.
3842 Old Age, 3423 Widow, 1058 Physically Handicapped, 158
Weavers and 233 Abhaya Hastham pensions are disbursed.

The council meeting was held on 31.01.2017. During the meeting
council has approved 13th Finance Commission Storm Water Drainage
works with a total amount of Rs.16.19 lakhs and tender of
procurement of 10 dumper bins with a cost of Rs. 4.95 lakhs are
approved by the council.
The vision is to encourage people to congregate and develop
living streets — streets that encourage pedestrians, cyclists and other
NMT modes. Streets are public assets but on most days are
monopolized by cars, two wheelers, trucks, buses etc. On this day,
predefined roads are blocked so that people can regain ownership of
the streets. The end goal is to help build safer, happier, healthier and
more sustainable cities where ownership of making cities sustainable
on citizens. Guntakal municipality have been planned to organize the
event on every fourth Sunday of the month. On an average 1500
citizens have participated in the event and made this event a great
success.
