10 Student feedback mechanism on Institutional Governance/faculty performance

STUDENT FEEDBACK FORMS

STANDARD PROCEDURE No.GNDECB/Standard Procedure/

1. Feedback on Academics, Infrastructure and Facilities is to be obtained from students of each class by the concerned class teacher in the prescribed forms at end of each semester.

2. After collecting feedback from the students, the class teachers are to study all the forms, analyze them and a summary on feedback is to be recorded in the prescribed form The feedback forms and detailed summary is to be handed over to HOD.

3. The HOD concerned is once again, will go through the feedback forms and the summary notes given by the class teachers are analyzed thoroughly for all subjects of semester and consolidated separate summary note is to be prepared in the prescribed form for each

semester. 4. Student feedback forms, summary forms by class teachers and concerned HODs are to be filed

semester wise and to be kept in departmental office. 5. Copy of summary of feedback, prepared by HOD for each semester, is to be forwarded to the

Principal with recommendations for corrective actions within fifteen days of taking of feedback. 6. Principal shall consolidate summaries of students feedback required from all departments and

initiate action on consolidate feedback before start of next semester.

TEACHING STAFF APPRAISAL

STANDARD PROCEDURE

For the steady development of the Faculty, it is essential to monitor their performance on academic and administrative work and advise them on the points requiring action for continuous improvement of the system and the individual. This is done through teaching staff appraisal. The

objective of the process is to ensure involvement, and interaction of the faculty, students and administration for overall improvement of the institution and individual.

1. The process of staff appraisal is carriedout during every semester.

2. The basic information i.e., name of faculty, qualification, designation and information is to be filled up by the concerned faculty.

3. the procedure for calculating the percentage of grades based on the feedback (Teacher’s

Evaluation by Students) and process of corrective actions is taken. 4. The photocopy of the completed ‘Teaching Staff Appraisal’ form along with all the student

feedback forms given to the concerned faculty by obtaining his/her signatures. 5. The original ‘Teaching Staff Appraisal’ is filed in the departmental file.

11. GRIEVANCE REDRESSAL MECHANISM STANDARD PROCEDURE FOR

Introduction Growth of an Institute/Department is a continuous process. The main participants in the process of development/sustenance are students, teaching faculty, non-teaching staff and management. The quality of performance is reflected by opinion of Alumni, Parents and Employers. The process of obtaining proper feedback from students, employers, parents, Alumni and

processing the same for effective corrective actions refine the quality of performance and results in positive growth of the Departments and Institute.

Feed Back The feedback shall be obtained from the following participants: -

1. Faculty 2. Students 3. Parents 4. Alumni

5. Employers 1. Feedback from Teaching Faculty Feedback from Teaching staff is obtained as a part of teaching staff appraisal. Teaching Staff Appraisal

The detail procedure for carrying out ‘Teaching Staff Appraisal’ which includes scope for self-appraisal by staff and suggestions by staff for improvement of their academic potential, improvement

of infrastructure of department, improvement of infrastructure and working environment of the Institute. The HOD shall summarize the suggestions of all the staff members given in their respective ‘Teaching Staff Appraisal’ forms. The summary of above suggestions along with HOD’s and Principal’s remarks shall be classified as follows: -

a) Points for Action at Department Level: Action shall be initiated immediately after discussion with Principal.

b) Points for Action at the Management/Institute Level: To be informed to the Principal for analysis and necessary action.

2. Student’s Feedback Refer 10 3. Feedback from Employers The department in consultation with the placement cell shall call for feedback from Employers

of the Alumni as per Appendix – D. The feedback shall be obtained as per the format enclosed at Annexure–I to Appendix-D. The

employer shall be requested to give the impressions and valuable suggestions to improve the quality of technical education and training in personality development being imparted at our Institute. Suggestions are called for

i) Improvement in quality of imparting of theoretical knowledge. ii) Improvement in quality of imparting of practical knowledge. iii) For including latest technologies/trends in the curriculum.

iv) Training for personality development. v) Training in communication skills vi) Training in managerial skills

and other relevant suggestions The feedback shall be called from the employer at least, after one year of service offered by the Alumni with the organization.

The valuable feedback data from the employer shall be summarized by the department and

presented to the Principal.
