Guy Bourdin

By Amie Tucker

• Guy Bourdins images are mainly of women presented in different ways. These women are normally presented in a provocative, colourful and serious emotion manner. Nudity can come as a shock in some of his images however they are very individual and could be described as ‘in your face’

• I Have chosen 5 of my favourite images. 3 of these 5 I created my own pastiche:

His images I chose

Guy Bourdin was born in Paris, France and was a french fashion photographer and known for his provocativeImages. Nudity is in a lot of his images but I chose a few images without. Guy has a section the the Gallery ‘The Somerset House’

I took all my images on my Nikon D3200 whereas Guy Bourdin Took his on a 35mm film camera.

HIS-----MINE

This image was taken in school and is in the exact same style as Guy Bourdin. I would say that this is my most successful pastiche. I edited the exposure and vibrance to make the image warmer.

HIS-----MINEI found these images on the internet. I used photoshop to edit them together. I used magnetic lasso around the plane and legs/shoes and dragged them onto my background images of mountains. This image is more of an Homage. Vibrant colours were used not grainy images either therefore very clear which is what was similar to Guy Bourdin’s image.

Edit:Feather for plane: 1Feather for shoes: 3

I did not edit anything else

HIS-----MINE

I would say this is my least successful image but is still an obvious pastiche of Guy Bourdin’s work. I used photoshop to crop and edit colours to create this image. This is my object piece and the glasses are my objects. The woman in this picture is my mum and she is doing a serious pose which is the same as Guy’s image. This image is grainy which is more in style of Guy’s image.
