DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL LYNC 2013/SKYPE FOR BUSINESS® 

The latest Skype for Business® 

application (formerly Microsoft Lync 2013) can be downloaded from

Google Play Store. Here are the application downloading steps on GVC3200:

1. On the GVC3200 main screen, select “Applications”.

3. Select “Google Play” to download, and it will be installed on the GVC3200.

4. Open Google Play and sign in with your Google account.

5. In Google Play, download “Lync 2013” and install it.

When there is an updated version of Lync 2013 in Google Play, users could go to GVC3200 main

menu->Applications to open Google Play->Lync 2013, and then select “Update” to update the app on the

GVC3200.

USE LYNC 2013/SKYPE FOR BUSINESS® ON GVC3200

On GVC3200, Skype for Business® 

(Microsoft Lync 2013) works similarly as on other AndroidTM

 

platform devices. This section describes the main functions such as making calls, call controls during calls,

sync contacts, and other behaviors when using Skype for Business® app/Lync 2013 app on GVC3200.

SIGN IN

Open Lync 2013 app from GVC3200 main screen->Applications. The user must have a Lync account to

use the app. Please check with your system administrator for sign-in address, password as well as

certificate if needed.

Use GVC3200 remote control keypad and trackpad to navigate in login interface. Enter the Sign-in address

and password, and then click on Sign In.

INSTALL SECURITY CERTIFICATE

If the Lync server requires the Lync client to provide certificate for signing in, the user will need to obtain

the security certificate from the system administrator, and then manually install it on GVC3200 before the

user signs in Lync on GVC3200 successfully.

If the user fails to sign in Lync 2013 on GVC3200 due to lack of certificate, follow the steps below to install

security certificate on GVC3200.

1. Obtain the certificate file from system administrator. Place it in a SD card or USB flash drive.

2. Plug the SD card or USB flash drive into GVC3200.

3. On GVC3200 main screen->Application->FileManager, open the external storage, copy and paste the

file into “Internal Storage”.

4. Click on the certificate file. The following prompt will pop up:

5. Enter a name to identify the certificate and select “VPN and app”.

6. Click on OK and the certificate will be installed on the GVC3200.

7. Open Lycn 2013 app on GVC3200 and sign in again.

SIGN OUT

To sign out from Lync 2013, click on the menu icon on the upper right and select Sign Out.

Sign out option is also available in account presence status. Use the GVC3200 trackpad to navigate and

click on the presence status field for the account. “Sign Out” option is on the bottom of the list.

Note: 

Lync 2013 app doesn’t automatically sign in when GVC3200 reboots. If the user has already signed in

Lync 2013 on GVC3200, after GVC3200 reboots, by default the user needs to open Lync 2013 app from

GVC3200 main screen->Applications->Lync to launch the application, and it will automatically sign in.

MAIN INTERFACE

While the Lync client has extensive functionalities when it is installed on desktop, the Android application

version has its own set of supported features. This determines whether the function will work when the

 Android app is installed on GVC3200. For the supported functions and compatibilities on Lync 2013

 Android app, please refer to the link below:

•  Profile

Custom personal status message, change presence status and etc. The presence status allows user to setstatus to Available, Buy, Do Not Disturb, Be Right Back, Off Work and Appear Away. The user can also

reset status and sign out from here.

•  Contacts

Search other Lync user in company directory, view contacts/favorites added previously when logged in

from Lync desktop client.

•  Conversation list

View converstaion list including calls and chats. Select one conversation for call and chat with the

party/parties in the conversation.

•  Schedule

View scheduled calls.

•  Dial pad

Bring up dial pad to dial number directly.

•  Menu

  Options: Additional options such as configuring phone number, sync contacts, logging, Lync

version and etc. Please note settings like “Require Wi-Fi for VoIP calls”, “Require Wi-Fi for video

calls” and “Vibrate” are for mobile devices, and they do not apply for GVC3200.

  Help: Open online documentation for Lync 2013.

  Sign Out.

MAKE A CALL

1. In “Contacts” tab, use GVC3200 remote control to navigate to the search icon on the upper right, and

click on it to bring up search field. Enter the contact name, or Email address, or number you would like

to call. The search result will show the contact with the presence status.

2. Select the contact and the contact information will be shown up in the following figure. The user could

click on the icons below, the profile picture for chat, voice call, video call, or sending Email (Email app

is required to be installed and signed in on GVC3200 for sending Email).

3. Click on the camera icon as highlighted above to initiate video call. The calling interface is shownbelow.

 ANSWER A CALL

When there is an incoming call, the caller’s profile picture and name will be displayed in the screen. The

callee can see if it’s “Video call” or “Voice call” initiated by the caller.

Select “Ignore” to reject the call, or “Accept” to answer the call on the screen.

OPTIONS DURING CALL

During the call with Lync 2013, users have the following options.

1 Video Control Click on it for video control options:

•  Switch camera. Flip the local video display horizontally.

•  Start/Stop my video.

  End video. This will stop video for both local party and remoteparty.

2 Hold/Resume Hold/resume the call.

3 Voice Channel •  If the external speaker is connected to GVC3200 via USB,

clicking on this icon will not change voice channel. The external

speaker connected via USB will continue to be used.

•  If the external speaker is connected to GVC3200 via Bluetooth,

or a Bluetooth headset is used, please make sure “Bluetooth”

icon is the selected channel here. Otherwise, there will be no

audio during the call.

4 Dial Pad This can be used for DTMF input.

5 End Call Hang up the call.

6 Chat Open chat window and start chat.

7 Call Return to call interface when the current interface is chat window.

8 Mute Mute/unmute

9 More More options during call, please see figure below.

•  End conversation

•  Invite more parties into a conference call

•  See Contact Card

•  Send as Email. The chat history with this call can be sent as

Email. Email application is required to be installed and

logged in on GVC3200 in order to send Email.

Note: 

1. Besides the above options, users could also use the BACK function key on GVC3200 remote

control trackpad to go back to the previous interface within Lync 2013 app.

2. Function keys on GVC3200 remote control such as MUTE, End Call, PIP, Camera and

Presentation will not work during calls when using Lync 2013 app. Users need to use the trackpad

to navigate and select options/icons in Lync 2013 app, in order to use the supported functions by

Lync 2013.

•  Call Waiting

During an ongoing call, if there is a new incoming call, the new call will be shown up on the screen for the

user to answer or reject. If the new call is answered, the previous active call will be automatically put on

hold. The user could go to the conversation list in Lync app to select the call on hold to resume anytime.

•  PTZ Contro l

To adjust PTZ for GVC3200 camera during Lync calls,

1. Go back to the main screen of GVC3200 by pressing the HOME function key on GVC3200 remote

control trackpad.

2. Then press the CAMERA button on GVC3200 remote control, and adjust PTZ from there.

3. Go to GVC3200 main screen->Applications to open Lync 2013 again to return to the ongoing call.

•  Volume Control

To adjust volume during the call, the user could tap on the VOLUME UP / VOLUME DOWN buttons on the

remote control track pad. Alternatively, the external speaker connected to GVC3200 also has the volume

buttons that will take effect when being pressed.

CALL FORWARDING

On the main screen where the profile is displayed, click on the call forward field highlighted below. Thenthe user can configure call forwarding options and time conditions.

SYNC CONTACTS TO GVC3200

The contacts from Lync app can be synchronized with GVC3200 local contacts. By default “Sync

Contacts” option in Lync app is enabled, and it can be configured in Lync app interface->menu (upper right

on the Lync interface) ->options.

To view the Lync contacts, the user can use GVC3200 remote control to navigate in main

screen->Contacts to view them. All Lync contacts are automatically grouped, and user can see it under

Group tab.

Navigate back to “All” tab in contacts and select one Lync contact. The user can initiate call or chat from

there, and the Lync app will be automatically launched.

BRIDGING SIP CALL AND LYNC CALL

GVC3200 with Lync 2013/Skype for Business®

installed can bridge SIP call and Lync calls together. After

the call is bridged, the remote SIP party can hear the Lync clients, and the remote Lync parties can see

and hear all SIP parties.

Steps to bridge SIP call and Lync calls:

1. Make a SIP call from GVC3200 call interface.

2. In the call screen, select More->Third Party apps->Lync.

3. Lync application will be launched. Establish a call using Lync.

4. The call will be mixed.
