He captured his first win since 7/10 vs. Norfolk on 8/8, throwing 2.0 scoreless, one-hit IP with one strikeout.

Quest for a Winning Month: At 6-8 (.429) through 14 games in August,

the G-Braves need to win 10 of their remaining 17 games this month to clinch their first winning month since April, 2012. Since going an IL South-best 17-7 that month, they’ve finished with a .500 record or worse in nine-straight months: May (15-15), June (5-25), July (14-14), August (10-19) and September (1-2) of 2012, and April (12-15), May (12-17), June (12-17) and July (11-15) of 2013.

Omar Among Leaders: RHP Omar Poveda allowed four ER over 6.0 IP

Tonight‟s Start: 27-year-old left-hander Yohan Flande makes his 28th

appearance, 18th start of the year for Gwinnett in game two of this four-game series against Durham tonight. It is his 29th overall outing of 2013, as well as his 194th career minor league appearance, 157th minor league start.

Last Outing: Flande failed to become the first Gwinnett pitcher to win five-

straight starts since RHP Charlie Morton (5-0, 1.40 ERA in 5 starts from 5/8/09 to 5/29/09) as he took the loss in his last outing vs. Lehigh Valley on 8/9. He was knocked around for 10 hits over 5.0 IP (77 pitches, 49 strikes), but gave up just three runs to the IronPigs, including a solo HR to Derrick Mitchell. Flande walked one and struck out five, exiting with a 3-0 deficit…Gwinnett lost, 6-1.

Vs. Durham: Flande will face the Bulls for the sixth time this season tonight.

In five outings, two starts, he‟s 2-0 with a 2.84 ERA (6 ER in 19.0 IP) against the IL‟s best team, including his most recent victory on 8/4. In that outing, he guided the G-Braves to their first win at Durham Bulls Athletic Park in 10 tries this year, holding the Bulls to a run on three hits over 8.0 IP (109 pitches, 76 strikes). He induced 12 groundouts to just four fly outs, walked none and struck out a season-high eight, leading Gwinnett to a 4-1 win. Career against Durham, Flande is 6-2 with a 2.34 ERA (19 ER in 73.0 IP) in 17 games, 10 starts.

IL Pitcher of the Week: The left-hander was named the International

League Pitcher of the Week on 8/5, his first career IL weekly award. Flande went 2-0 with a 1.59 ERA (3 ER in 17.0 IP), no walks and 13 strikeouts in two starts from 7/29 to 8/4. He’s the second G-Braves pitcher to win the award this season, joining former teammate, RHP Tim Corcoran (5/20-26).

Hot Stretch: Flande won four-straight Triple-A starts from 6/25 to 8/4,

going 4-0 with a 1.52 ERA (5 ER in 29.2 IP) in that span. That includes his 9.0-IP CG on 7/29 at Charlotte, the first by a G-Brave since RHP Julio Teheran did it on 6/3/12, also at Knights Stadium (9.0 IP, 7 H, 1 ER in 5-1 win). Flande’s four-start winning streak was the longest by a G-Brave since he himself last accomplished the feat from 6/27/11 to 7/29/11 (4-0, 1.16 ERA, 3 ER in 23.1 IP).

Versatile Arm: Flande is 1-0 with one save and a 3.79 ERA (8 ER in 19.0

IP) in 10 outings out of the Gwinnett bullpen this year. His lone save came in his season debut, 4/6 vs. Charlotte (2.0 IP, 1 ER) and was his first since 4/24/11 with Gwinnett at Charlotte. In the rotation, he’s 6-7 with a 4.60 ERA (48 ER in 94.0 IP), eight quality starts and one complete game in 17 starts.

Spot Start with Mississippi: Flande has also made one appearance at

Double-A Mississippi this year, a spot start on 6/30 vs. Mobile. He took the loss, allowing six runs, five earned on nine hits over 4.2 IP (85 pitches, 50 strikes). He exited trailing 6-0, and the M-Braves would go on to lose 6-3 to the BayBears.

Blank Man: His 4/22 win vs. Charlotte marked the sixth time in his career

with Gwinnett that he‟s started a shutout. Flande first started a G-Braves’ shutout on 7/29/11 at Durham (6.2 IP, 3 H, 0 ER), a combined six-hitter in a 5-0 win. Last season, he started four of Gwinnett‟s nine shutout victories, including 4/9/12 at Norfolk (no-decision, 3.0 IP, 0 H in 1-0 win), 4/14/12 vs. Durham (win, 5.0 IP, 3 H in 5-0 win), 4/20/12 at Charlotte (no-decision, 6.2 IP, 2 H in 3-0 win) and 5/29/12 vs. Lehigh Valley (win, 7.0 IP, 3 H in 4-0 win).

2012 in Gwinnett: Flande spent all of last season with the G-Braves, his

second-straight year with the club. He went 6-11, leading the staff in ERA (4.21), starts (27), quality starts (11), innings (147.2) and strikeouts (106).

Scoreless Streak: Flande worked 19.2-consecutive scoreless innings to

start the 2012 season, coming across five outings, four starts. The streak finally ended with two earned runs over 4.1 IP in a no-decision at Toledo on 4/27/12. The scoreless streak was the longest by a G-Brave last year, helping him secure Gwinnett’s Pitcher of the Month award for April. The left-hander finished the season’s first month 1-0 with an IL-best 0.90 ERA (2 ER in 20.0 IP).

Career Accolades: He was a midseason All-Star in the Florida State

League in 2009 while with High-A Clearwater (Philadelphia Phillies)…Flande was named Phiadelphia’s Minor League Pitcher of the Month for April of that same season, going 3-0 with a 0.38 ERA. He pitched for the World Team in the 2009 XM MLB Futures Game in St. Louis on 7/12/09 (1.0 IP, 2 H, 2 K).
